Busy again.

Back to the old grind...HA! I'm happy to be busy again with cat-sitting all those 'stay-at-home' kitties that need care. My October calendar is filling up.
Take a look at some of the beauties I have had the pleasure of caring for.lately. Let's start with the Fab four.

                                                                     Tigger

The most handsome ginger. He is the colour of cayenne pepper.

Belle
(the paws tell me she is very relaxed in my company)

The ever-so-shy Quincy
"I see you, Monkey"

& his side-kick
Flash
I have been having fun photographing these four fabulous felines. Each one very different in personality and nature.
Tigger spends as much time as given on his closed-in deck where he tends the flowers.
Belle is a kitchen cat and assists me as I prepare their meals.

The two ginger and white buddies, Flash and Quincy, have come a long way since I last cared for them.

They are newly-adopted and were a challenge at first to win their confidence. Although Quincy still looks timid and shy he is very loving. Flash is a big mush-ball now. They are such a joy to care for.

I'll have lots of photos to show you of these beauties and introduce you to a few more in the next few days.

90% of my cat-sitting kitty-clients are indoor-only cats. =^..^=
Although I love to photograph the outdoor cats in our neighbourhood, I do prefer to see cats stay inside their homes where they are safe and sound.
Indoor-only cats do not have to be bored. I will do a post soon to list the many things we can do to make our indoor-only cats' lives more fun and interesting.
It's up to us to keep them amused.

We are enjoying the most beautiful Fall weather right now so Kane and I will take you on a walk through town again. Fall decor is popping up everywhere.

Now I want to send you over to visit one of my favorite blogs. Jane and Chris are two British-born Canadians Vegans who share their home with thirteen gorgeous rescued cats.
You will love the photography, the cats, who happen to have their own blog, and Jane has some delicious vegan recipes to try.
So grab a tea (and maybe a cookie) and pop on over to http://swiftsuresongbird.blogspot.ca/.

Enjoy your week, everyone.
Happy October

Off for a walk

The morning was busy with cat-sitting some very beautiful felines. I also added another touch to the front porch since Kane has now left.
My french bread basket came in handy again.  The real pumpkins will hopefully come from my daughter's garden soon.

Then it was 'nana-time' with little Gwyn. She changes so much every time I see her. With the beautiful Fall weather and the sun on our backs, Jess and I took Gwyn on a walk downtown.
Our town is alive with colour,.

Snug as a bug
After a latte, blueberry scone & cheese-cake brownie we headed back home.

                                           Nana,  Mommy & Gwyn
I'll have some beautiful cats to show you this coming week. Gingers mostly and a lovely black and white senior girl.
Here she is waiting for me in her window. It's good to be back working. "Did I say "working?  Hardly."

Cats everywhere on this perfect Fall day.

Not lookin`...no siree,  Bob.

Kane and I went for our walk late today as the day got away on me. It was close to five and much cooler than earlier in the afternoon. Not only did I enjoy the weather but I could not believe how many cats were out and about at that time of day.  I stopped counting in the teens and just enjoyed each and everyone of them. If I was one of those people who hate free-roaming cats and consider them a nuisance like squirrels, I would have blown a gasket. Most were curled up on porches or in amongst the fading plants that have yet to be cleaned up. Some seemed to appear out of nowhere and many lying on lawns. One just walked past us on the side-walk heading to the shops, I think.
I captured a few on my camera but wasn't close to any of them because of the dog. Kane only likes HIS cats.

The trees are coming alive with colour now; little by little.
This is along the Mississippi River.

Our little front porch is getting dressed for Fall, too.
It's just missing one thing...
"Oh, there he is."

Our darling old dog, Kane who could use a pair of sunglasses today.

Love of blue and white.

Goodness, could you two get any cuter?
They have been following the sun around all morning while I do some re-arranging.

Very early this morning, I picked up one dish and placed it in a new spot. That lead me to move the dishes that were above this newly-placed dish to a more appropriate shelf. Standing back, I looked and realized a few cups and saucers looked 'funny' now so they had to move. I happily made room for them but that meant something else had to change. Before I knew it, I had re-arranged a kitchen cupboard.

I love when this happens. You get into the 'zone' and there is no effort, it's playtime.

Here's Audrey's favorite piece.

Time passes quickly and you love the end result. I guess you have to be a dishaholic to understand.

                                                                   "Ya, you've got that right."
"Poor wackidoodle. She needs help."

"Audrey...get off the island. NOW!"

"NO!"

"Ummm..about that empty cat dish."

Banana Bread

Banana Bread with tea is always a good treat on a cool, Fall day.

Can I tempt you

This one has lots of walnuts in it or on it. You choose.

                      Quick Banana Bread
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg beaten
1 cup bran
1 1/2 cup mashed bananas
2 tbsp water
1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp soda
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (you can put them in the mixture or add to the top of the bread)

Cream the butter, gradually adding the sugar.
Add the beaten egg and the all-bran. Mix thoroughly.
Stir the mashed bananas with the water.
Sift together the flour, salt, baking powder and soda.
Add this to the creamed mixture alternately with the bananas.
Add vanilla and mix.
Put in 8 x 8 bread pan
Bake 350 for 1 hour
If you want to make this into muffins bake for 25 minutes.

My Fall tea-cup is out of the cupboard and close at hand now.

The sun is shining and I'm gearing up to start my 5 km walk again today. First, I visit Bud and Chase and get them comfortable for their day.
They are such posers.
They will be window gazing all day as the squirrels and birds tease the heck out of them.

Have fun guys. Daddy will be home in the flick of a tail.

Cat-in-windows just for you.

The sun is shining on this beautiful Fall day. I spent part of the morning cat-sitting and then swept crunchy brown leaves off the front steps. Then the wind picked up and blew them around again but I still enjoyed the cool breeze and the sun in my face.

Buddy and Chase gave me the 'stink-eye' when I dropped in to feed them this morning. They would have loved to be out in this weather but they are to stay in while dad's away so it took some extra treats after breakfast to console them. They have beautiful windows to watch the squirrels and birds and I did remind them that other cats would be very envious of their window-sills. Still, they are indoor-outdoor felines and it's hard to compete with that freedom. Won't be long now, guys.

Kane loves his walks on days like this. He actually has a skip in his step for the first few blocks. This is his time of year.

Cats were everywhere today as we strolled down the quiet streets in town. I love having him out and about while everyone is at work and there are fewer cars around. It's just so peaceful. The geese fly above, making their familiar call while they practice for the long trip ahead. The only other sound you hear are dogs barking in the distance.  Mostly, we enjoy seeing the kitties on their porches, on the sidewalks and of course, in the windows.
It's interesting to see the different ways they re-act to Kane.

So, here are a few 'kitties in windows' for you today.

                                                               Beautiful tabby and white.

More tabbies. I was too far to get the wee one to turn around. Maybe next time.

Bud & Chase on their window-sills.

& Ed early this morning.
This is becoming his favorite spot.

A birthday and an adoption

If you are 'surfin' she'll be snugglin'
The weather here has turned quite cool so Sierra spends more time indoors. .

We celebrated our  grand-son's first birthday. He had his own cake and we enjoyed birthday cupcakes.

Bradley
Oh my goodness, he had so much fun destroying it.

I am so excited for Natalie and Gordon from http://knatolee.blogspot.ca/. They are adopting a cat from their local animal shelter (YAH!) and she looks just like Audrey.

"Well, she must be gorgeous."
                                   Yes, she is, Audrey.
                               Lucky Louise

Please drop over and see this little scalliwag that will be joining Gordon, Natalie, 2 dogs, 4 cats, many ducks, even more chickens and a family of bees. What a wonderful life is in store for this very fortunate feline.

hugs, Deb
