A new project and 'our girl' Audrey.

A very lazy bunch here today.
I had a day off from cat-sitting so I decided to tackle a few things inside. But first, I had to brush and walk the dog, feed the menagerie and make some veggie soup while only twice being interrupted by the same dog who is now reaching a geriatric age and continually stands in front of the pantry door and barks for treats. "Ugh!" At least the soup hit the spot.
It's been cool, rainy and we lose our daylight by 5:00 now. I've been thinking of little Molly who is now off the street and comfortably waiting out the birth of her kittens. Where would she have found comfort if it wasn't for the kind woman who temporarily took her in to her home two weeks ago. She is now in a foster home found through the Ottawa Cat Rescue Network. They are wonderful people with big hearts.

Indoor projects are taking over out-door activities.
The eight dining-room chairs are getting a new look with burlap seat covers.
I'm hoping there will be enough left over to make a runner for the table.

There is always lots of help around here.
"Audrey...what are you doin'? Have you been into my lip-gloss again?"

Maybe I should make a jumper for Audrey with the left-over material.
My daughter, Jess, always says she looks like a boy and carries on like one, too.
"We'll have to do something about that, Audrey."

"How Rude!"

"Has anyone seen my big-girl panties?"
=^..^=

Not a bad Tuesday at all.

The morning consisted of picking up keys for cat-care, walking Kane and enjoying another walk with Jess and little Gwyn.
I captured this 'cat in window' for you. I was so enamoured with my grand-daughter that I focused on the leafless tree instead of the cat. She was too cute not to show you, though.

Gwyn is two months old today. Where did that time go?
I think she's dreaming of petting a cat.

She is really developing a cute personality full of grins, pouts and smiles. She knows her nana and I get a 'special' smile. I just didn't capture it today...too busy swooning. I got lots of nana-time in and then it was off to the pub with the retired-guy for their famous fish and chips. Every time I indulge I say "it was the best yet"  and I think it was tonight; really.

Not a bad Tuesday at all.

Thank you all for the nice comments on the header. Isn't it awesome! Deidre Wicks is so talented and has such a unique way of capturing her subjects. Although not all the cats in the header are charges of mine, Billy, on my lap and Buddy (white) are long-time clients along with Otis who is sporting the bow-tie.
Hope you took a moment to browse her website. http://www.whenwatermeetspaint.com/ It's great.

I received an email today letting me know that little Molly (the pregnant cat that is now in foster care) is doing fine and has not yet had her kittens. She is fed and warm and safe and loved. That's good enough for now. I'll keep you posted.

hugs, Deb

Cat-in-window

"Well, hello there."

That look of disgust is for the dog. He's not taking his eyes off of him.

Thank you to Deidre Wicks for the charming watercolour that I have placed as my header. Drop over to see some of her delightful work.http://www.whenwatermeetspaint.com/

Tea-time Tuesday & Matchy-matchy

These two green cups were custom made for me years back.
I like the heaviness of them and love the colour. The handles are solid and big. I don't have any dishes that match in any way, shape or form but they do look nice with my cream-coloured tea-pot.
Fresh butter tarts and ginger peach tea were a great match for a tea break today.

Isn't this the sweetest tea package.

I think a tea-pot this shade of green would be a nice added piece so I'll be keeping my eyes open for one on my 'junkin' trips.

Speaking of eyes and keeping with this lovely shade of green...
Beautiful Dominique was showing off her peepers today. She wanted me to see how her mom has matched her bed-spread to Dom's lovely green eyes.
"Aw, you are picture-perfect, Dom."
Hope to see you again soon.

The most common eye colors in cats are in the middle of the eye color spectrum (greenish-yellow to gold). The colors at the ends of the eye color spectrum (deep green or brilliant copper) are usually seen only in pedigreed cats who have been selectively bred for dramatic eye color, but they may sometimes appear in non-pedigreed cats."

Kane's 'extra hour'

It was windy and cold but the sun was out.
It was easy to decide what to do with our extra hour.
Kane was off-leash and busy looking for a stick...which we found...which he lost again.

We gave the hour to him and he enjoyed every second of it.
We adopted Kane from a shelter when he was one year old. We have covered a lot of ground in 12 years.

Now I'm off to cat-sit. As of today, It is dark here by 5pm. There's always a down-side to everything.
 Have a great evening.
hugs,
Deb

Time to Fall back

It was time to turn back the clocks one hour today. We got an extra hour of sleep if so needed.
Here is an article of interest in the Vancouver Sun.

Annie waited in the french bread basket (which now solely belongs to Annie) for everyone to get up.

Ed waited patiently for the wood-stove to turn on and settled for heat from the register.

Sierra & Audrey slept in while Lily sat by the fridge waiting for breakfast.

                                                                    That first cup. Mmmm
Yesterday was a fun day in Almonte. There was much activity in the little town with shoppers and Christmas Arts and Craft Shows here and there. I guess you can say I have started Christmas shopping.

And, I came home with this guy. He is my 2013 Santa that will join my Santa collection of 30 years.
He is carved wood and has a stressed look.

I know it's too early to talk Christmas but you know how fast time flies.

"Welcome, November"

"Welcome, November."  I imagine I'll have to step-up my tea-drinking now that the weather is getting colder. Oh, what a shame.
I brought out my favorite Fall tea-pot and had a cup of blueberry tea by The Good Tea Co. So yummy.

Add a banana-nut muffin with cinnamon-sugar on top. Oh, that's good.

"I always enjoy caring for my kitty-client, Smudge. Look at this face. You just want to snuggle her up. And I do.

"Release me, you crazy cat mauler."
She's not all that happy with her feet off the ground but will tolerate it from her cat-sitter.
We had lots of fun playing and I hid some treats for her to keep her busy which she found every time.
Hope to see her again soon.

And here's a pretty 'cat in window' that posed for me last week.

Hope your first day of November was a good one.
