Favorite places

Audrey loves the heater.

"Is there a 'blast' button on this thing?"

Sierra prefers her window

Annie perches near where I bake while

I nestle in next to the tree

The retired-guy's in the garage if you're lookin' for him.

Well, we are certainly getting close now to the big day.
I hope you have taken some time for yourself in whatever way you please.
I can't stop bringing home more critters to the mouse house.
These two look right at home here.
And who could resist this tail?

Time with friends

Yesterday it was warm as toast.
Simon came out for a look-see and found that sitting up on his chairs of protection gave him the perfect view.
So much for protecting him from our local hawk.

This morning it snowed. Not much; just enough to make it look a little more like Christmas time.
Sierra enjoys a bit of cold milk at breakfast.

Around the mouse-house the gifts are going up high, out of the reach of our Audrey. She is not impressed so she has gone back to her hidey-hole for another nap. Annie is dreaming of cat-nip filled mousies under the tree.

One of the best joys of Christmas is getting together with friends.

We were off to the local tea-room with Iain & Susan from http://www.readymadecosmos.blogspot.ca/.  Susan has some great Christmas baking ideas for you.

A light lunch then back to the mouse-house for coffee, tea, lemon loaf, pumpkin muffins, (locally made) butter-tarts and fruit. Notice I threw the fruit in there for good measure.

It was such fun getting together with two of our dearest friends. A tight squeeze but fun, nonetheless. :)

I think I`m ready for the big day. Once the stockings are stuffed I`ll get in the tiny kitchen and start cooking.
Christmas is at my daughter`s beautiful home this year.
We`ll be surrounded by family which includes three grandittles. Oh joy! I can`t wait to see the excitement in their eyes. :)

Around the mouse-house

The cats are having more fun with the bags than any toys around the mouse-house lately.
Audrey loves the noisy, crinkly ones the best.

BUT...throw an empty wrapping paper roll on the floor and she heads for the hills. =^..^=
She's adorkable.

My all-time favorite Christmas song ...

                                         Breath of Heaven
                                                                                (Mary's song)

I love the Vince Gill version. If you find it, listen to it and cry. I always do. lol

Other than no snow...it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
There has been only one Christmas....the rest are anniversaries. W.J. Cameron

Shop 'til we drop.

I knew this would find it's way to our woodland Christmas tree.
He thinks it's a great way to cruise through the woods, I guess.
The real one is tucked away for the winter.
Which is funny because we just saw some on the road yesterday. No snow yet.

"I'm hungry"

This little guy came home with me yesterday to join up with our tree-topper squirrel.
I thought he might be lonely. ;-)
This one is all dressed for the snow that we don't have.

We had a delicious lunch at Robin's Nest tea-room in Almonte yesterday with this little lady and her mom.
She loves to have nana's camera case to put things in.
Cards mostly, but I put my foot down at creamers.

Our lunch was delish topped off with a big piece of home-made lemon pie.
Then we shopped 'til we dropped.
All unique little shops in this beautiful town.

Last stop was at a mechanic's shop where I spotted this lonely squirrel with his prize.
"Come home with me, little guy. It's much nicer there."

Time to get crackin'

Your comments on my last post were so very comforting. I know that many of you have been through the loss of a cherished dog or cat and understand the waves of grief that hit you for days and days after. It is only three weeks since we lost our dog and it is still so unbelievable. I thank you so much for taking time to write. I have to pull myself out of this slump and get cracking with all that needs to be done before Christmas.

Audrey thinks that because we live so high up (above our garage) that Santa will stop here first on his travels.. She wanted their stocking hung early just in case. Her world is very small, remember. ;-)
                                                               Annie at the tree

I pulled up an old header from 2012 when Audrey was just a youngster. I always loved the photo of her peeking around the Christmas tree. Her fascination with the tree has not dwindled one bit.

We wait anxiously for our first snow fall here in Ontario. Much of Canada has had plenty but here we have yet to see our first snowflake of the season. It's wonderful for shopping but hard to keep focused without the beautiful white snow. I'll have to rely on the little white lights of the tree for that.

Missing them at Christmas.

I'm just sitting here tonight thinking of all the loved-ones that I miss so much at Christmas. My grandmother, Mary, my parents, my in-laws, my dear friend, Chris, my beloved cats. Now I have Kane to add to that list of souls that made my life so wonderful, so full of love. I miss my dog so much it hurts. A real pain I feel in my chest; a tightness that just won't leave. I wonder "are you okay, Kane? Do you need me, bud?"
I know it will lessen with time but I long right now to look into those soulful eyes and feel the softness of his coat as I pat his back. He loved that. He loved a kiss on the nose, too. I don't ever want to forget the feel of his nudge on my knee as he impatiently waited for his dinner or anticipated another throw of his ball.
It's so hard to know he's gone in the flesh; only now with me in spirit. But, he lived his life; a full life, and for that I am thankful.

"Mommy loves you and misses you, Kanie."

We just carry on, don't we?

I hope your days are merry and bright as you make your plans, bake your cookies and trim your tree for Christmas.
I'm looking forward to lunches and coffee dates with friends that I don't see near enough.

My fragile tree

I love my little tree.  The branches are so fragile though that I must be careful only to put the lighter ornaments on them.
Heavy glass or ceramic ones are kept in their boxes 'til next year. It's probably just as well. =^..^=

A bird is missing.
"AUDREY"

"You bellowed?"

While shopping in a nearby little town, I had  a 'cat in window' photo op. Isn't this a lucky feline to have a whole Christmas shop to play in? After this shot the cat got down to business washing it's paws and settling in for a long nap..
Here's one purchase from my shopping spree.

He looks right at home here.

My birds were given an early present from their #1 admirer. After filling it with sun-flower seeds, I placed it so it is visible from the kitchen window of the mouse-house.
lol...tacky, right? But they love it.

"Merry Christmas resident birdies."
