Roslyn

For all you pink lovers
I give you Roslyn

She's very dainty.
She's in perfect condition (no chips) and needs a new home. Any takers?

Her new home will be revealed tomorrow. Good luck.

And the Easter basket tea-cup will be heading off to live with Robin Larkspur fromhttp://purrrrsnickitty.blogspot.ca/. Looks like Robin is another cat-lovin', dish-collecting blogger.
Congratulations Robin and please email me your snail-mail address. (debsteckly@catlover.com)

So, anyone who likes Roslyn, please leave a comment.

Did you know that cats are not perfect? They are not. They can be very demanding and quite self-centered. Sounds like I am describing we humans, right. Their proud confidence commands respect. But once they are given love, they are extraordinary, loyal creatures and the comfort they offer their human companions is like no other. I could not live without the company of cats.
I respect that it may be difficult to win the friendship of a cat as it is one that does not place its affections thoughtlessly. But it is most rewarding when you do.

New home for Roslyn tomorrow.

New home needed

"Good Morning, everyone."
You know I love to collect pretty tea-cups.
Well, I also like to give them away.
It's time to de-clutter and that means make room for my newer china.
So, this little tea-cup and saucer need a new home. It has always made me think of an Easter basket so it is a good one to pick when Easter is just around the corner.
If you would like to rescue it, please leave a comment and the new 'owner' will be announced tomorrow.
No name. Just a number.
But oh so pretty.
Good luck.

And here's a peek at the next adoptee.
Just kidding, Audrey. You can come out now.
By the way, we need to work on your hiding skills.

Here she is..
I'll show you more of her tomorrow.
hugs, Deb

Little Emma & window seats

This is darling little diabetic Emma.
She enjoys the sunshine on her soft chair in front of the window. I have been caring for her for a long time and am so happy to see that she is doing well. She has had to have her insulin amounts increased lately but that's ok. She's well looked after and has a wonderful life. I administer insulin twice a day while her owners travel. She just gives me a look, then munches on her treats while I do a quick and easy poke. No muss, no fuss.

Have you thought of adding some kitty accessories to your home?
How about a beautiful window seat.
I have added two of these to our home. I like them because they are actually screwed in to the window-sill. One in the front room and one in the master bed-room.
The cats love them although Audrey would rather be under my top-sheet on the bed. If she hears birds though, she's on it in a flash.
Audrey and Annie

Here's another style..
Cute but you have to be very careful about the weight.

I stumbled upon a wonderful blog that shows you how to make your own cat window-seat. Take a look and see if it is something that would interest you and enhance the life of your feline companion. http://diyshowoff.com/2011/11/06/diy-cat-window-perch-and-diy-project-parade/

One of my comments (Valeria) asked for the recipe for the carrot cake. It was a store-bought cake, as I have had little time to bake with so many travellers right now, but it was delicious. It was the M&M Carrot Cake and I recommend it.

Tomorrow I have something special for YOU.
I'm de-cluttering again and you know what that means.

A garden in my hands

                                                    Chintz China
I think we all crave the sight and fragrance of  flowers right now. Thank goodness we can find them in flower shops if we just can't wait any longer. Or, maybe look to your china.
I love this tea-cup and saucer. I think it's the daisies that drew me to it. Such colour, such vibrance. I feel like I am in the secret garden when I hold it in my hands.
The cup and saucer are Wade Heath - made in England.

This little plate or tray that I found while antiquing seems to match it well. Lots of room for a tiny piece of carrot cake along with your tea-cup.
and a cup of Chocolate Tai Tea. No honey today.
I'm thinking I should show this to Audrey.
Do you think she just may try to one-up-it and serve me my tea?

"Oh, do get over yourself."

OK, then.

The sun was shining today and Kane and I went for a long walk.
The biting cold has left, once again.

It's on these crisp, sunny wintery days that I think, "Maybe I can take a bit more of winter."

Nah!

I'm joining up with Sandi at http://sandimyyellowdoor.blogspot.ca/ for Tea Time Tuesday,

Thinking Spring

I think the only way to carry on with this cold winter is to think Spring. I do a lot of thinking while I change things up in the cabinet.

I heard this morning we will have an early Spring. "Don't tease me now."

The cats are getting very anxious to watch and listen for the Spring birds to arrive.

                                               Audrey & Annie
Audrey may have got a-hold of this guy.

I have always loved winter until around Jan. 1st. Then I'm bored with it and long for Spring.

I love the green grass, new plants, the smell of warm, fresh air and seeing cats on porches again.

Won't be long now.
I'll just place little hints here and there to help speed it up.
I think this guy lost his ear to that duck.

This is Family Day in Canada. We saw most of our family yesterday. Today it is a quiet day (after cat-sitting) at home. There is left-over carrot cake to enjoy with some tea and I think it is time to groom the cats. Our cats are so used to being combed that they look forward to the attention. Except for old Ed. He is too bony now and prefers the touch of your hand to a brush or comb.

So, Happy Family Day. Enjoy each other.
I hope that includes your cats and dogs, too.

To add just a little more beauty to your day...The Crawley Sisters

I have some 'beefs'

Other than a bit of cat-sitting, Sunday was a rather quiet day around home.
Audrey loves to hide on me but she really is rather bad at it.
She enjoys the work it takes to burrow her way under the top sheet of the bed.
It always looks rumpled immediately after it's made. It's just something I live with.

"Audrey, you have 5 cat-beds downstairs and yet you feel you have to rumple up mine.
Do you think that's a nice thing to do?"

"Is she serious?"

I've given up.

Daughter #1 and Mike dropped in for a visit and we enjoyed a meal of vegetarian lasagna, garlic bread and then a big slice of carrot cake with tea.
The retired-guy apologized that there was no meat in the meal.
Then he put a roast on for later.
This is where I say, "Is he serious?"
We are not on the same page when it comes to our diets but live with each other's differences.
That's life.

It is very cold here tonight; hovering around -15. My heart goes out to any wild animal trying to stay warm and find food in this climate. I put plenty of dry kibble down for the ferals tonight but it doesn't seem like much help. Thankfully, tomorrow it will warm up again.

And may I just say, Downton Abbey...Shame on you. *sniff*
