Pip

I wasn't sure if I could tire out this silly Pip but after a cat and mouse game at the wood pile and a mad chase to grab and eat the fly in the window-well (her...not me), she finally settled down to enjoy a sun-puddle.

They are so darn hard to resist.

We have 'sprung forward' now and Spring is in the air. It was a great day to have a birthday party
He opened his gifts and I watched him blow out 30 candles and wondered where the time has gone.

Around the house & down the road

He's surrounded by females and he loves it.
Four out of five don't like him, though.

I did a little baking today. Two pumpkin loaves for coffee and tea breaks.
The walnuts went a little 'nutty' during baking.

Notice anything new?
LOVE!

The sun was bright and warm today but the wind is still cold  It was beautiful driving in the country to care for some stay-at-home kitties.
Although they are indoor-outdoor cats they will stay inside while I care for them.
We played cat and mouse for awhile on the wood pile.
and the birds are keeping them amused.
6 months and already a stunner.
What is it about tabby cats that I love so much?

I did manage a couple of cat-in-window photos. What a little rascal he is.

He wants out but he will soon realize I left some treats here and there for them to hunt down.

Time to bake a birthday cake.

Hey Joe..what do ya know?

Well, for sure he knows he is all that and a bag of chips.

Imagine this face looking at

this face
Neither will blink

Peace is slowly returning to our home, though. Oh, they are still doing the odd 'hiss and snarl' but for the most part the cats are just keeping their distance for now. Audrey is out and about again. She walks past Joe with her head and tail held high. She's rather cocky until he makes an unexpected move and then she high-tails it to her hidey-hole. She watches him from there. He has a high-pitched squeal instead of a normal sounding "meow" which really throws her. I've been giving her extra cuddles and I expect it will take the full two weeks for everyone to settle down and find their corners. I'm chopped liver to her these days.

We do have some feeding issues as the new-comers are used to food being left out as my daughter is at work all day. Our cats are not used to being free-range felines and Annie will devour all food that is sitting unattended. So, to keep Annie from blowing up the food is put away. Joe and Rae-Rae will now be looking forward to scheduled meals.

"Oh you do look pathetic, Audrey. But then, I'm sure that is the intention."

It will be a busy weekend with cat-sitting and a birthday dinner for John. Thank you all for the nice comments on his birthday post.
We are expecting to have some nicer weather this weekend. The sun is warmer, the snow is disappearing and the time is about to spring forward on Sunday morning.
Now, ain't that the cat's meow!
Hope it's warming up where you are.

30

"Happy 30th Birthday to our wonderful son, John"

Here's what I know about John.

Everyone loved him even as a young, rambunctious boy.
He had the cutest smile and still does.
He was a 'helper' and, at three, wanted Santa to bring him a proper-sized broom for Christmas.
He always sided with the under-dog.
He is generous, thoughtful and fun and to this day has best friends since childhood.
He lived for soccer.
He is sensitive.
He is a 'fresh crusty bread' hound.
He protected his sisters and did his best to keep away bad influences.
He loves to 'tinker' with cars.
He is smart with a great work ethic.
More than once I was approached by his acquaintances to be told that we did a great job raising him.
Yes, we are very proud.
Oh yes, and he can dance.
He is now a great husband and father.
His children make him laugh and he is enamoured with them.
He is a proud daddy.
His dad and I love him beyond words.

"So, here's to a great year, John.

What's a bit more cat-hair anyway.

It's been a tad chaotic around the home-front these last few days. Youngest daughter has moved back in with her kitties and we are all slowly adjusting. The humans don't seem to have much difficulty but it's always a different story when it comes to felines. Annie is quite set in her ways and hasn't much time for these unfamiliar, furry free-loaders. Plus she must protect Audrey, who is spending more time than usual hiding under blankets yelling profanities as I walk by.
We have already done the introduction by letting the new-comers stay in one room and then slowly make an appearance and that seems to have gone well.
I'm sure after a few days the dust will settle (along with a bit more cat-hair) and they will all get along at least enough to live under the same roof for awhile. It's only for a few months and we all know how fast a month flies by.

Here's Rae-Rae already enjoying the main bedroom. She is an easy cat to be around and as you can see she is gorgeous. I've never thought there was too much happening upstairs, if you get my drift, and I do believe it contributes to her easy-going nature.  This cat loves everyone immediately and fears nothing. "Hmmm"
She's very fond of knitting.

I now have a long-haired cat, who just so happens to love brushings, to fuss over again. You know how I enjoy grooming cats. :) Of course, this will only happen after Audrey has been taken care of in the manner in which she has become accustomed to. That would be 'spoiled rotten'. That is, when she's speaking to me again. She has the OSPCA on speed-dial.

I'm sure I will have some interesting photos later this week. I'm trying to photograph Joe but he'll have nothing to do with it.

Everyone is talking Spring now. Are we all worn out people? I took a short trip to Perth today and came home with a new Spring tea/coffee cup so I guess I'm ready now. Bring it on!

The clocks spring forward this weekend. Yes!

Welcome March

It snowed all night again,  and although the wind has calmed down, it is still very cold.
Can you feel it where you are? *big sigh*
Poor Audrey doesn't know where the squirrels and birds went.
"They have vanished, I tell ya."
I remind her they need to have some nuts and seeds sprinkled under the tree and then she'll have some entertainment.

I'm looking forward now to white picket fences and early blooms.

I know it will be awhile yet but it's just around the corner.
So I hope you are enjoying some warmer weather where you are.
Here's to warm and cozy as we welcome March.
