I didn't plan this; I planned to tie up loose ends all week and be in proper form for the wedding this Saturday. Instead, I am just back from the hospital with a fractured rib. Ahhhhh, yes!
Saturday evening whilst walking my dog I turned a corner and a dog that was sitting on it's lawn charged at Kane. The dog was tied (I couldn't see that) so Kane is fine. I, on the other hand, freaked, pulled Kane back, went over on my ankle, fell on the pavement and along with a cut up finger, cracked my rib. I walked 6 blocks home practically unable to breathe (from fright most likely).Anyway, to make a long and boring story a little shorter, I was up all night with pain and now I am home with meds to take the edge off. Well, isn't this a fine kettle of fish? They tell me at the hospital I shall be just fine by the wedding but now I think I should have got that in writing.
Please have good thoughts for me because I already fear wearing high-heels and now that I am lop-sided I expect to look like a drunken' sailor being escorted to my seat.
Lily is beside herself. See...
I will take the cue from Lil and rest up as best I can. I've already handed Gary a to-do list for today. Poor guy!
Wish me luck!
Hugs, Deb
OH NOES! Scott cracked a rib a while back and he was in pain...but of course us women are made of sterner stuff. Rest, ice, ibuprofen and PERCOCET. Make sure you get something narcotic for the pain...and watch your champagne intake...
ReplyDeleteDeb, I feel so bad for you, please don't fret and enjoy yourself, anyway! At least you'll have a great dinner party story.
You enjoy that wedding, gol darn it all!
Congratulations to the happy couple and their adorable sprite!
xx Trish
Deb,
ReplyDeleteOh, no! Hope you're up and around quickly!
Oops! Painful! I tripped over Jenna's lead a few months ago - she had to be restrained to a walk rather than a run after hip problems. She was fine but I bent a couple of ribs. Later I realised they were broken. Take care, relax as much as you can and let nature take its course:-)
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry! I don't dare wear heels. I'm already clumsy enough as it is.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Oh, no!! Fractured rib! I am so sorry to hear that. What a horrible experience you had to go through.... I hope it will heal soon and fine by the wedding.
ReplyDeleteOOO, Ouch!! So sorry for that. Forget the heels. Hope your rib heals fast.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry, Deb! Take care of yourself!
ReplyDeleteOh nooooo! So sorry that happened to you. I hear cracked ribs are very painful too. Do hope you will feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteDear Deb, Me and my are so sorry ! You are better have a really good rest, I purrs for you to have a fast speed healing. Hopefully, you feel better by the wedding.

Feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteSure hope you heal fast and feel better soon! Lily has the right idea, rest and let others help out!
ReplyDeleteThis can't have happened! It just can't! Oh goodness! You absolutely must take care of yourself now. Rest, get your composure back and do take your pain meds so you can breath deeply to avoid pneumonia. You will be fine for the wedding but will probably have some pain. Take care when you sleep. Put a pillow under your arm at your affected side so you remember not to roll in that direction. We'll be praying hard for you. Lots of love!
ReplyDelete(Had 2 cracked ribs about 8 mos ago when I was bowled over by a giant dog and landed on a coffee table. Believe me when I say rest!)
Aunty Deb,
ReplyDeleteOooh...ouch! Get well soon and rest...just rest, OK? purrr....meow!
So sorry to hear of your fall....not good timing. Take it easy, and I pray you'll be good as new....Soon!
ReplyDeleteGeez, I don't check your blog for a couple of days and all hell breaks loose!! Poor you... hope you are feeling MUCH better by the weekend. Rest up!
ReplyDeleteOh Holy Cod Woman! Glad to hear you are mending but my goodness, couldja just give yerself a break? Oh, oops. Strike that last! I mean, take it easy on yerself! Take the cues from Lil & Mr. Ed.

Oh, nooooo......big, gentle hugs Deb.
ReplyDeleteI leaned over a woodbox to try for some wood out of my reach and got rewarded with a searing hot pain in my ribs.... not to be put off...I thought..oooh...that hurt and turned to my left side and tried again...to get the same on the left side..what an idiot! Could hardly breathe for some time as well...then, later took some Ibuprofen and went to bed...could hardly sleep.
Saw the doctor on the Monday...this happened on Saturday. She doesn't believe in x-rays...and thought most likely rib tissue not cracked or fractured...but, I do have full blown osteoporosis....so who knows. Lots of anti-inflammatories and Tylenol 3 later...and 4 weeks this coming Saturday.... still hurts to sneeze, cough or hiccup.... so please don't try to overdo..... apparently, breaks or tissue...all are the same...just pain, agony and waiting...lots of waiting. I am so ticked because the golf season is so short anyway...and now... a month shorter already.....it's bloody annoying!
Hope you feel better soon....
hugs, V.
Oh Deb I am just catching up on posts from my internet free days here at camp. I am so sorry and hope you are feeling much better already! Hugs, Linda
