My family know how much I love old china and dishes with lids are my favorite. This one was found in a local antique shop. On the bottom is stamped J.M. & Company Ironstone
Isn't she lovely?
Isn't she wonderful?
Isn't she precious?
Probably 100 years old.
The ladle
Doesn't match..I know. Very strange. I love it anyway but I might paint it.
and speaking of old...well, how about seasoned, that's a nicer word
here's Cali
(in her 19th year)
enjoying the morning sun and showing off her white knee sock. It will be too hot for the cats very soon and they will be sleeping in the shade all afternoon.
Inside the house, I've been having a conversation with the monkey while I relax with some coffee before starting a busy day. I'm giving her the low-down on what NOT to do while I'm away from the house.
She gave me her full attention. I told her the retired-guy would be in charge today. She doesn't care.
I'm pretty sure I heard a "Pfffffffffft" when leaving the room. Better warn him and fill up the glue-gun. :(
Have a great day and stay cool. I am off to care for a brown tabby, orange tabby, orange and white, 3 greys, a cream coloured pretty boy, a torti and a gorgeous white. The cat-bag is full and so is the gas tank.
If you are in the area and would like to adopt a cat or dog please take a look at the website of the
Lanark Animal Shelter in Smiths Falls http://www.lanarkanimals.ca/. They have many beautiful, socialized cats and kittens up for adoption.
hugs, Deb
I think you have a strange combination of things you love...cats and china! The two just don't mix. I have run out of places to put breakables and collectibles where the cats can't reach them. Every time I think I've found a safe spot they prove me wrong. Good luck keeping your birthday gift safe.
ReplyDeleteYour loves, strangely are two of my favorites. I collect china (have 7 sets), plus tea cups, tea pots, sugar & creamers, and lovely serving pieces. And, there's my best buddy, Bailey, who is 16 1/2 years old, but sadly suffers from renal disease. Seeing Cali makes me wish he's have more years with me. I hope, one day, they'd find a reason why so many cats succumb to this disease.
ReplyDeleteStay cool and enjoy your day with all your "charges." XOXO
Deb that is a beautiful dish! I love the flowers on the lid. Well kitties and china are a delicate thing but it can work. Now Audrey...well glue gun in hand isn't a bad idea. She is a fiesty girl. Enjoy all your kitty clients! Hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteEverytime I see a photo of Audrey I burst out laughing -- every time.
ReplyDeleteI worry that china-lovers are a dying breed. I have a full set of Lenox china that I use for holidays. I have asked my three daughters if I could leave the dishes to them and they all say they don't have room and don't want them. I've discovered that my granddaughters are even less interested! Sigh...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous tureen! I'm with Rebecca ... Everytime I see a photo of Audrey I start to giggle! :D :D
ReplyDeleteCount me in the cats and china crowd. Random pieces with serving platters and covered dishes a favorite. But my all time passion is tea pots. Old tea pots, English, with or without lids, battered, chipped, worn. Can't resist.
ReplyDeleteThe ladle is spectacular! Don't paint it! There will be another dish that will come along to be it's complimentary mate. You know it will.
Can't wait to see photos of your kitty clients.
You've convinced me Kari. I won't paint it. Photos of kitty clients coming soon.
ReplyDeleteI was drawn to the laddle - wow! I love that you talk to your cats - I do too. My older cat will be 17 in September and he's my bud but he sleeps a lot more now than he used to.
