The right-sized mug

This is Audrey last Christmas visiting our table tree.
You can just imagine what was going through that mischievous mind.
We'll be bringing home another tree for the table this year. We have 11 ft.ceilings and last years' tree almost reached the top. It worked so well with the cats (except for Audrey) and all the gifts could be nestled under the table on a skirt. We added a small train set to follow a track around the tree for Riley's delight and now little Bradley may get a kick out of it, too. I know Audrey loved it.

"Audrey, are you going to climb my table tree this year?"

                                               "YES"
"How about I hang it from the ceiling, then?"

This is the time of year to enjoy hot chocolate.
I like a big mug of hot chocolate and found these huge mugs last year.

There's plenty of room for miniature marshmallows.
and there is no need to get up for a re-fill.
Add a bowl of popcorn....heaven.

I baked banana muffins this morning.
It's an old recipe from a cook book called Encyclopedia of Canadian Cuisine by Jehane Benoit
They are a very basic muffin and a little butter and honey is a great addition.
Here's the recipe...
2 tablespoons of butter
1/2 cup of brown sugar
1 egg, beaten
2 bananas, mashed
2 cups all purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/2 cup of milk
Cream the butter, add the brown sugar and heat until creamy. Add the egg and the mashed bananas, mixing well.
Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Add to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk. Stir just enough to blend together. Spoon into muffin cups and bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.

  2. I have my favorite mug which I get out every Christmas. It is just the right size for coffee or cocoa. Muffins sound yummy! Too bad I can't twitch my nose and pop over to share!

  4. Deb, I hope you never quit blogging. While I LOVE all your kitties, that Audrey just makes my day. You take great pictures of her that always make me smile or more often than not, giggle. If you were in Connecticut or if I was in Canada, I'm sure we would be the best of friends. :)

  9. Our mom didn't put up a tree last year because we were both kittens. She hasn't decided about this year yet.

  11. Audrey looks so little, so innocent and full of wonder as she takes in last year's Christmas tree. So sweet. Thank you for posting that photo of her again. I loved it.

  12. I think I'll go make some hot chocolate. Give Audrey a hug for me! I've been wondering how Mina will behave with the tree. She is such a little imp.

  13. Hello Deb,
I know I'm going to get a smile when I visit you. I so enjoy your stories of your kitties. The first one of Audrey by the tree is so cute. I have been wanting a train set for years and never did get one. My Daddy had a train set and I have loved them since I was a little girl. Your mugs look nice and festive and your muffins; yum! Thanks for coming to tea and have a lovely day, my friend.

    Blessings,
    Sandi
