Hope I can catch a few customers with my camera this week.
I mentioned that suet brings you Woodpeckers
and it does.
The skirt on a Douglas Fir Tree. This is where I find Mourning Doves basking in the sunshine.I'm heading into the kitchen right now to make some muffins. Grandittles, Riley and Bradley, walked in here Sunday morning and after the usual, "Hi's and "How ya doin's" they both looked up and asked, "Do you have any muffins, Nana?" *grin*
I didn't, but had home-made chocolate chip cookies that seemed to satisfy them just fine.
Now I need to make their favorite pumpkin muffins and have them ready for next time they drop by.

ReplyDeleteHI Deb,
ReplyDeleteI have a dilemma coming up in a few months and after following your blog for quite some time now i can think of noone better to ask....
Hubby is retiring in April and we are moving to Arkansas from California. Now we will not have a home right away until we find and purchase one. We will be staying with my sister in law until then....Here's the dilemma....
I have a cat who we love very much... is spoiled rotten... and is the sole King of his household... He has been neutered and declawed since he was a kitten. He is approx 8 years old. He is a well behaved young man who enjoys much love and attention.....Problem....
He ofcourse will be coming with us to Arkansas .... He rode in the moving truck with my hubby from TX to CA three years ago.... He did pretty well , except he hid out under the seat the whole trip ... we stopped in hotels three nights on the way there and he came in the hotel room with us each time including his food and litter box and after a short while each evening he was his usual cuddlesome self... So i expect the actual trip to go well but its the staying at the sister in laws for what could be weeks to a month or two that has me spooked......
She has two large cats of her own at least as old as my Jinx and they are NOT declawed ..... It is not an overly large house and is single story... All three of our cats are inside cats only. How in the world do i handle this situation... We will not be driving a moving truck this time we will just have our own pickup but still he cannot live in the pickup for weeks.... Any suggestions would help......Is there a way to make this work without totally freaking Jinx out... Hugs! deb
Hi Deb - I think you will have to wait until you get there to see how the resident cats accept Jinx. Also, Jinx is used to being a single cat and may not take to them at all. You should start out with putting Jinx in an area of his own. I suggest you use the the bedroom that you and your husband will be using and turn that into a room for Jinx. Add a window seat, keep his food and water, litter and toys in that room. Have a radio on low and visit him throughout the day. You will be with him over-night so I expect he will not be lonely. You can introduce the other cats to him but I would do it individually and be supervisimng at all times. Expect growling and hissing but often that's where it stops. Be prepared to remove Jinx quickly if it looks like it may get worse. This is only temporary and hopefully not long so I think I would just keep little de-clawed Jinx safe and away from the others.
DeleteAaaahhh if only it were that easy.....I neglected to say the house is only a one bedroom so hubby and i will not have our own bedroom..more like a blowup mattress on the floor..sigh.... Yeah i'm getting too old for blow up mattresses...lol I know i'm just worrying ahead of time and i just need to wait and see when i get there. But he's my baby and so i worry. Thanks deb, I appreciate your advice. Hugs! deb

ReplyDeleteThanks for the new blog...gorgeous photos. Joe does look comfy doesn't he. Charlie is loving his window when the sun comes out!
ReplyDeleteBoy, could I go for a pumpkin muffin right about now. Sounds delicious. And beautiful bird photos. I need to get out and take some photos of our feeder and resident winter birds. Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeletePumpkin muffins sound wonderful, Deb! I was going to make muffins and ended up making cinnamon rolls instead because they are Hubby's favourite treat. I only have the one feeder right now which hangs in our maple tree on the front lawn. Chickadees and gold finches are our visitors right now. I will have to check out the blog you mentioned. Have a lovely day.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
Lovely bird feeders! I am having trouble with placement. Hung one outside the kitchen window, but it banged into the window when the wind blew. Hung one on a tree in the yard, but couldn't get to it when we had heavy snows. Also squirrels are a problem. I don't mind feeding them some, but when they find a feeder they decimate the contents within a day. Argh. So far, the best bird TV for the cats has been the bird bath (and that is only in the summer).
ReplyDeleteI can almost smell them baking.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
