Off to the prettiest village in Canada.

After a quick visit to meet and greet a new kitty-client, it was off to Merrickville for a walk-about.
It's one of my favorite small towns with the beautiful Rideau River running through it, unique and quirky shops and lots of smiling faces strolling about. Oh, the architecture is amazing and everyone takes pride in their homes and shops here. The flowers were at their best today. The retired-guy loves to stand and watch the boats go by but seeing the hairy mongrel is always on the move, I walked around the park instead.

At 15, he still catches the eye of dog-lovers so he stood obediently while admirers talked to him knowing he couldn't hear a word. I wonder what that must be like for him. It makes me quite sad when I think about it. But, he enjoyed the morning and we even stopped at an out-side cafe so he could partake from their freshly topped-up water bowl for local doggies. Mmmm- he enjoyed that.

We passed by so many beautiful shops and one that I peaked inside of had a flower-box on their window-sill. I liked the simplicity of the box, thinking I could build one like that, so I took a closer look.
But, like everything else in this unique little town, the wooden box held a surprise feature that caught my attention. Jesus was in there amongst the flowers.
Quirky, right?

So, it was not a day for me to shop in this lovely village but with perfect weather and a happy old dog at the end of a leash, who wants to be inside anyway.

If you are ever in the vicinity I do recommend you visit Merrickville.

  2. Sounds like a really lovely place! I love little villages with nice shops that people take pride it...it's pleasant just to walk and window shop!

I think our old bunny Nugget might have lost his hearing...or most of it. Sometimes the vacuum takes him by surprise when it gets up close.
