The easiest and most delicious tea cake.

Yesterday got away on me but today I invite you To Stay For Tea. :)

Here is a cake that you can enjoy for breakfast.

The Loaf Cake
That's what my mom named it in her recipe book.
It was always a favorite of mine because I
LOVE
cinnamon.
It is so quick.
Here's what you need...
1/4 c butter
1 c white sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1 c sour milk
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla

Mix 1 tsp cinnamon
and 3 tbsp brown sugar
set aside.

Mix the wet in one bowl and the dry in another
Add dry to wet
Mix together

Put 1/2 cake ingredients in loaf pan then a layer of the cinnamon sugar mix.
Then the other half of ingredients and the rest of the cinnamon sugar mix on top.

Bake 1 hr. at 350 degrees.

Now, not many of us have sour milk sitting around.

"Well, I should hope not."
"Zip it, Audrey
Here's how you make it.
Add 1/2 tsp. of vinegar to the cup of milk.
Let stand 5 minutes.

Two fresh organic eggs.
Line the loaf pan with parchment paper.
Now it's ready for the oven.

A delicious tea-time cake.

(a lovely summer treat, too)

I hope you add this to your Christmas baking.
I give them as house-warming gifts.

=^..^=

Here is a 'throw-back' photo.
Audrey's first Christmas.
I know, such an angel.

It wasn't long before she made it to the top of the table tree.

Enjoy your day,
Hugs, Deb

  2. This sounds so easy and good and I think I will make it for our church's fellowship time this Sunday. Thanks for sharing it. And of course Audrey should be at the top of the tree -- angel that she is.

  4. Your cake sounds wonderful. We make a traditional rum cake that I give out to neighbors each year. And I love that Christmas pic of Audrey!
Noticed your tea... London Company? Not sure I've seen that anywhere. I love peppermint tea. Have never tried Peppermint, spearmint, and strawberry. Sounds pretty good.

  8. Oh, I love Audrey. That delicious skinny little kitten neck, and she has grown into such a beauty. I am going to try the cake, we all love tea loaves, I normally make them with lots of fruit left over night in strong tea, but I also enjoy cinnamon. I love your blog too, cannot wait until the main house is built. Take care Andie xxx

  10. I can barely make out Audrey's angel wings. They're tattered and tarnished and her halo is missing but, yep, they're there. She's still a little feline angel.

  11. Little Audrey and the Christmas tree, oh my, that is adorable. It's a perfect Christmas card. Wonder if I could bake a cinnamon cake that would turn out like yours. I doubt it! Deb, you put me in the Christmas spirit way back when you strung up those first few lights. Thank you!
