Downright Delicious Donut

We were out near the Richmond Bakery in Richmond, Ontario again so we stopped in to pick up some of these...
Downright Delicious Donut
I know! It's awful...

I am moving a buffet upstairs (maybe I'll work off that donut) to make more room in my dining-room. I hate clutter and the dining-room is cluttered with furniture. I'll make use of it and store some of my seasonal dishes in it so I'm playing with dishes again. My second favorite past-time to kitty-sitting. Today I just had Ebony to care for so she made the best of my time. She's not a very playful cat but she did her best to keep up with me. :) I have time to work on her play skills and surprise her owners when they return.

Don't move ol' blue eyes...I think there's a ghost behind you.
Little ghost cat,
By moonlight now you come and go
Unseen, and, like moving water flow
Through my dreams, calling as of long ago,
O friend I loved and lost. . .and loved again.

A feline-filled summer

"Hello kitty"
Don't you love looking up and seeing a cat watch you from its' perch. I do!

Well, the busiest time of the year has come to a close for Just Cats Cat-sitting Service. I will have a few homes this week but I am happy for a little break. I will be cat-sitting a few cats most days but will have a little more time for family and friends. It has been a fun and busy summer. I have really enjoyed the cats in my care. Oh sure...I did a lot of this
but you show me a job that doesn't have a few stinky moments.

Here they all are. Try to contain yourself....

My biggest accomplishment with winning over a heart....Gordon
and with a heavy heart I bid farewell this summer to Guiness and Wilson.
Guiness
Wilson

They were alike, these two wonderful cats. Both were loving, soft-natured, funny, kind-hearted souls who made me laugh so hard with their silly expressions and funny antics. They were my little welcome mats and accompanied me as I prepared their meals and would melt my heart when I hugged them. How I miss them so much and my heart just broke for their loving owners who, because of illness, had to make the final decision to let them go. I ask myself sometimes "why do we let ourselves fall in love with these little creatures who fill our souls with happiness only to have to someday lose them?" Because that's why we exist..to love and be loved.  They teach us to love. We love them and they return that love ten-fold. These two cats left their people with wonderful memories and a special place reserved for them in their hearts; and in mine. They did their job.
And that's that.

Now do you know why I love this job? It is a privilege to love these cats.

Jack

We say farewell to our NDP (New Democratic Party of Canada) leader, Jack Layton today.
I am  not a fan of politics or politicians but I did like Jack. He passed away at 61 years of age after a battle with cancer.

RIP Jack.

"Claimed" & a wedding shower

It's nice to have new furniture in the  home but before it becomes acceptable by all family members it must be worked in a bit. On this rainy day,  there were a couple of volunteers who were more than happy to give it a test drive.
"Oh yes, Deb. This is most definitely a keeper"
"How is it you make everything look beautiful, Ed?"

I had a great time today at my daughter's Best Friend's wedding shower. I have known Lindsay since she was just a wee thing and have always loved the fact that she and my daughter grew up as close, loving friends.
I look forward to seeing this beautiful girl have her day in October. All the Best to Lindsay & Kyle.

A peaceful presence

There is not a fickle bone in his body. He is a companion, a peaceful presence and he claims my heart.

Our grand-kitty Hugo is diabetic and we lovingly do our best to keep him comfortable so he can live a long and happy life. If there is ever a cat that deserves a little miracle to get his health back on track,  it is Hugo. This photo was taken in my office today. He has become the 'office cat'.

Wishing you a peaceful weekend.
I've just had a fabulous pedicure as a reward for such a busy week.  Heaven!

What made you smile today?

I sat at a stop sign today and watched a little girl, maybe somewhere between 7 & 10, from atop her pink bike, watch a fat, orange cat roll back and forth on the sidewalk. Her helmet was cockeyed and she sat on the seat with her feet pressed against the front wheel. She was very amused by this chubby orange and white kitty and the cat was doing its best to grab her attention and receive some petting from her. She could not leave; she was so enthralled with its' antics. I sat for awhile, as no cars were around,  and watched and remembered when I was that age and was late for every function if I happened to pass by a cat on the way. Many a cat would be picked up off the sidewalk and brought home only to have to be returned immediately once my mother found it.
That would have been 50 years ago. 50 years! How fast time goes. And here I was heading to a home to care and pamper cats that had been left in my care. I couldn't help but smile and wonder if that little girl in front of me would end up some day in the cat-care business or would she be the next Prime Minister of Canada. For her sake, I hope the former.

What made you smile today?

Well, it's Friday

Some owners have returned but still it is a busy weekend ahead. Many cats to care for and a few get-togethers.

We are in for some rain but that's fine...we need it.

I'm still working with Addy. She is a feral turned house-cat and her first reaction to anyone entering the home is to hide under the bed. So there she is every morning and there is no changing that. She is eating well, using the box, drinking from her wine glass so perfectly placed on the bed-table. I'm not worried about her and I do see her each day so we will carry on. I just wish I could pet her.
Lucky is the opposite. She dances around my feet as I prepare their breakfast. She is a short, stubby-build and as soft as silk. Cutest little dickens. She was very afraid of me when I first looked after her. Here's the very first photo I took of her.
Now she dances in the kitchen while I prepare her meals. We are best buds.

As of today I have 10 cats under my care. Very manageable. I can pamper each and everyone if they let me.

I am heading out to get Ed a wheat-grass plant for the deck. He is yearning to get out on the lawn but then he is known to scoot under the fence so he must stay in the screened-in deck. He is so smart but may have a bit of dimentia now. Too smart for his own good, though. I know he loves to munch on grass so I'll bring the grass to him.

We have a new white cat living 2 doors down that is allowed to roam. Ed has seen her through the fence and I think he thinks its' Lily.

Thundercloud is a beautiful Russian Blue and I spent a lot of time this morning bonding with her. She is very playful and kind spirited.
She's actually drop-dead gorgeous

5 kittens have been born at Shelly's foster home. They are now 3 days old. The mother was rescued last week and is now safely being cared for along with her kittens. I know you want to see them so I'll pop over.

I wish you all a very happy weekend and thanks for popping by this silly little blog.
