Biting the babies

My cats enjoy my company. They look for me and expect me to take care of their needs. They cuddle with me and sit on my lap. They know my schedule, they read my body language, know my moods. When we are at the vet they lean in close and know they are safe in my arms.

So here's my question? Why on earth does Martha Stewart have to bite the little face of every kitten she brings into her life in order for that cat to know 'she is the mom/boss'?  She literally bites the cat. And what's the cloth for? Do they bleed?

She said, quote, “As with all my new pets, I gently bit each kitten on the face.  This is how I let my animals know that I am now their mother.”

Personally, I think this woman has some 'control' issues. I can hear everyone laughing.
OK...we all know she is the biggest control freak going but for crying out loud, where does it stop?

I read recently that she bites the inside of her dogs mouth when they arrive as puppies so they,  too, will know that she is the 'dominant' one. Oh, don't worry Martha, I'm pretty sure they would quickly figure out that they will have to be all that you expect of them quite quickly or they get the boot.

I can appreciate all your domestic and organizational skills, Martha but this just ticks me off. So unnecessary when 'love' and 'proper discipline' is all they need. "Martha, stop biting the babies, you wacko."

hugs, Deb

  1. How odd. I have never heard of anyone biting a pet to show who's dominant. Seems to me, that would make the animal afraid of the person. ?? I would rather be your cat, Deb.

  2. I needed a good laugh today and you provided it! I had heard that before and having lived in Connecticut, right next door to Westport, where she called home until they "turned" on her. I'm with you...who wouldn't know she wears the pants and pees standing up!!!XOXO

I must say, I cannot bring myself to bit the faces of my pets - and definitely not the inside of their mouths!

  7. I've never heard of that before. I think she's not giving cats enough credit. Cats figure it out WITHOUT the bite!

  9. She is a serious nut case...biting her cats and dogs so they know who is dominant?

  10. I think the poor woman is attempting to communicate with her animals on their own level
ie: cat to cat. Animals are smart enough to figure out who's who and how to relate. We humans, less so. We tend to go to extremes; either biting their faces or dressing them up in clothing and treating them as infants. What a world!
