I'm a little surprised because of all the comings and goings at our front door but momma-to-be Chickadee is determined to have her babies in this ornament. It is a bird-house but was never used for that until now.
I stay clear of the bird-house and only speak to the bird when she is sitting watching me only a few feet away. I'm quite thrilled about this as the Chickadee has always been a favorite of mine. I remember at age 8 writing an essay on the Chickadee for English class and receiving an 'A'.
Here she is sitting in the tree next to our house.
You can see it is over-cast again today and rain expected. *darn*
We really need some sunshine.
Here's the little house where the nest is built.
I would normally wash it down and straighten it's whiskers after the long, cold winter but I am afraid to touch it in case it scares her away. So,....it's no mansion but it's home for her.
I'm a little concerned as far as Sierra being on the porch to greet our mailman each morning. It's not like she hasn't been known to grab a bird in her younger days.
We will have to keep her in when the time comes for the fledglings to leave the nest.
"Well, pfffffftttttt....to that", says Sierra
Yes, this is how she sits and waits for the mailman.
It's no wonder he finds her amusing.
Washing that down will just have to wait.
ReplyDeleteSierra won't like that!
Sierra's got her yoga position down just pat! If only it were so easy for us to twist like pretzels! I love the chickadees' home. It protects them from the elements. Please show more postings of their progress.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, we love that photo of Sierra waiting for her postman. How cute!!!

We have a ton of chickadees. Lizzie loves 'em, but her new 'flame' is Goldie the finch! Fabulous pix!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to be in our home and attract the birds. I know Rosie will love watching from the window or the screened-in porch. I love Sierra's sitting position! XOXO
ReplyDeleteOh Chickadees are so cute!! LOL to Sierra and her waiting pose! I had a cat that use to sit like that!
ReplyDeleteWishing you sunshine!
Linda
I love it when birds chose to make my garden their home. Well..except for those Grackles. I would prefer they stay over at the neighbours! Haha.
ReplyDeleteThat is funny how Sierra sits - cute! It will be fun watching those baby birds grow up. Sweet!
Happy Sunday Deb!

Sierra, you are a sly one!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the wee chickadees...
ReplyDeleteWe had one that kept tapping at the mirrors at the cottage...
Guess he/she thought it was another bird!
Guess that is why they call them birdbrains!
Enjoy the week ahead Deb...some sun please?
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Its easy to see that Sierra has a wonderful personality. Re the cat/bird obsession: I caught Willis the Cat sprawled along the branch of the crabapple where a mother robin had made her nest. I yanked Willis down and Jim put up a protective fence around the base of the tree, but mother bird had been so terrorized that she abandoned her nestful of eggs.
ReplyDeleteCats will be cats--sometimes horridly in character.
I love to see the little bird so comfy and cozy. Dear, sweet Sierra.
ReplyDeleteYour postman must feel quite honoured to have found such a delightful and devoted admirer.
