I spent all day outside gardening and together, the retired-guy and I worked on our walkway. It was fun and is starting to look pretty good. We then went into town for a bite to eat and to walk Kane somewhere where there are sidewalks. That's one thing I do miss about the old town we previously lived in. Then we ended this hot day with a banana maple milk-shake. :)
I had a special visitor keep me company while I prettied up the flowers around the old well.
This is the same little red squirrel that I fed all winter and early spring. He is quite friendly now and chats away while I work very close to him. Isn't he cute! I think I'll keep him. ha!
I gave him some sun-flower seeds for a snack.
He's my l'il Red
I want to share the recipe for the cake my sister baked for my birthday. Sour cream apple orange cake. It's a wonderful dessert so do try it. I plan to bake it as soon as this heat lifts.

That little daisy is from my field. I'm so happy to see them again. I thought we may have lost them all during the construction on the property.
And here's another treat. Madelief is in her garden again so pop on over to enjoy her flowers, which include a daisy or two. http://madeliefje-madelief.blogspot.ca/
It's raining cats and dogs today. All the newly-planted flowers will be happy while the mouse-house gets a thorough dusting.
Enjoy your day.
Deb
Yes, what a cute gardening companion! It looks like he's eager to learn. :-))
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting me.
ReplyDeleteYour post is great, and I love the little red chap.

That is the cutest little squirrel I have ever seen! We have only grey squirrels here. That cake looks so good, darn it...and I have finally lost ten pounds! :) I just may have to try it anyway. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThat squirrel looks like something out of a children's book!
ReplyDeleteLil Red's a cutie!
ReplyDeleteSquirrels can become little pets quite easily. My parents had some that would come up to them for a handout :)
ReplyDeleteThe squirrel obviously knows you're a good source of food. Just as long as he's wary of cats!
ReplyDeleteBelated Happy Birthday! I'm glad you had a sunny day to do some gardening and hang out with your new pet.
ReplyDeleteAw....he is just adorable! What a sweet helper. I'd keep him, too!
ReplyDeleteThat cake looks so moist and delicious! Next time I buy apples, I'm baking that!
Oh what a wonderful Li'l Red Squirrel. What does Audrey think about him? Have a great day. Jo
ReplyDeleteBeautiful daisy, and the squirrel's a sweetie xx
ReplyDeleteLove your squirrel! We have reds here, but they are quite rare.
ReplyDeleteThat is a really cute squirrel! I think he likes having his picture taken...
ReplyDeleteOh, I love that you have l'il Red there with you still. I bet by fall you will have him sitting on your knee and eating sunflower seeds from your hand.
ReplyDeleteYour birthday sounds lovely! Good!
Love,
Lily
