I have always said that you can never REALLY understand how a cat thinks but danged if I don't die trying.
AUDREY
rising from the dead.
And not a hair out of place.
AUDREY
rising from the dead.
And not a hair out of place.
From 2 days of age, when she came home with me from the animal shelter along with her mom, Annie, and two siblings to be fostered for eight weeks, she
preferred to be under a blanket rather than on top.
And still at the age of 4 years that is where you will find her a good part of each day. No matter what the temperature,
if she can't find an available blanket to make into a hidey-hole, she will stomp around digging at cushions, carpets, or bedding to get her point across.
If you don't 'get it'
she will rip your window screens apart.
It's good that I 'get it'.
=^..^=
So I continue to learn more about the fabulous feline
by reading wonderful books like this one
by cat behaviourist Pam Johnson-Bennett.
"Hmmmm...Let's see. Maybe there's a chapter on
Audrey."
And
I have a give-away
of another copy of this book for one of you feline fanciers.
So please let me know in your comment if you find this offer
purr-fect for you.
A name will be pulled this Monday, August 29th.
I'm off to read more of my book
as I have just been informed by Audrey that
"I don't know nuttin."
=^..^=
hugs, Deb
Audrey has always intrigued me! This book looks wonderful. Since I'm going to be adopting another sweet feline soon, I could always learn more about these amazing creatures!
ReplyDeletehugs!!
HeHe! Please don't put me in the draw! :).
ReplyDeleteThere are 100's, perhaps 1000's of books,
on pussy~cat behaviour...There rubbish! No
one! and l mean no one..can read or determine
the mind of a cat..they've tried ALL sorts,
secretly watching them, attaching cameras to
their bodies, and so on!
Advice to those who think they can read a cat..
Give it up..You've NO chance! This creature is
unique, a special creature that God made, and
put together, to be the most wonderful creature
on this planet..! So there!
I rest my case...And...Remember....
"Dogs have owners..Cats have staff"...
God Bless'em...!x
I wonder how they think too♥ Hugs ♥

Oh, the mind of a cat... yes, that is a mystery. And I'm not sure that any two would be alike, but it would definitely be interesting reading. I've worked with cats for years at Specialty Cat hospitals and have lived with cats ever since DH and I were married (which will be 49 years this Jan), but as I'm sure you know, Deb, they are fascinating animals.
ReplyDeleteHa ha, that Audrey!! It's doubtful you'll find a chapter on her!!
ReplyDeleteWould love to read the book. They are fabulous animals and even after forty years of being a slave to the cats that have lived here I know I can learn more. When my hubby and I got together he had never been owned by a cat' he has now and he loves it, I think, a bit more than me!! Love Andie xxx
ReplyDeleteThe best thing about cats is that each has their own unique, and very distinct, personality. The fact that they mostly accept us humans in their lives is a gift to us. I have said many times ... I adore my dogs, but I will never be without a cat. I love following along with the adventures of your cats.
ReplyDeleteI also believe that Audrey is my favorite. It is because of the look on her face! She is not amused at all we us foolish humans. I don't know why I didn't know she was your other cats daughter. And I look at the picture here and Audrey is 1 week old and she has that look on her face already!
ReplyDeleteI have had cats since I was old enough to drag them home and have been doing so for 63 yrs. My oldest cat was a Siamese, he was 21 when I had to have him sent to Heaven. My current fur-baby is Lola and the love of my life! She greets me at the door with loud yowls everyday. I just love cats and would love to know what the are thinking. Please enter me in your drawing. By the way I love your blog!
Wonderful photos of Audrey - as usual. I would love to be in the drawing for the book. Cats have been a part of my family for many years. I cannot imagine not having cat family members. Thanks for the opportunity to enter the giveaway! Looking forward to fall photos.
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! I would say if anyone knows how a cat thinks Deb, it would be you. It's funny how you say exactly what Audrey is thinking. Your words match her expressions and that makes me laugh.
ReplyDeleteAudrey is a cat? Oh I thought she was another child!!!!
ReplyDeleteDon't enter my name Deb, someone else who has kitties should get the prize!
I'm caring for Nala cat again - my neighbor left this morning on his big vacation to Massachusetts - I will be over there twice a day until Sept. 6.
She hides in the closet but comes out now and then to get a treat. Perhaps as I'll be there so much this time she'll eventually come out and play!
Happy day - Mary
I find all the kitties I have had over the years to be so very unpredictable and I never knew what they would do next now our dogs yes they were and are all predictable very lol ! Audrey well she is one in her own right mind I would say and comical to boot lol ! Thanks for sharing , Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteP.S to Willie about the dogs having owners and cats having staff well that's different and reversed here with our cat and dog lol !
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a really good book from the reviews I read. And couldn't we all use some help to give our kitties the best life they can have. All so unique and so amazing but good counsel is sometimes needed! Please do enter me in the drawing. Thank you, Deb.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend,
Lily
A chapter on Audrey??----what are you talking about?---she wrote the book!!! Ha ha ha lol
ReplyDeleteIn the colder months Miss pops will come over to me and claw at the blankets. If I let her imbetween the quilts she will spend 20 minutes shuffling round to get comfortable, fall asleep and then wake up 10 minutes later desperate to get out. It is amazing that Audrey stays there all day even in the summer.

One of the joys of cats is that we can never totally understand them. They love their own mystique.
ReplyDeleteThe smarter they are, the more they like to keep us guessing. And Audrey is smart! And unique. She has a personality larger than most humans. Love you Audrey!
Please don't enter me in the drawing. I'll borrow from the library. But thanks for being so generous!
If you don't fully understand cat language, little hope for mere mortals like me, but still I do try to,understand my pets and fosters. Gail TF
ReplyDeleteI would love to read a chapter about Audrey =)
ReplyDeleteor anyone of my furry little scalawags!
Cats are my passion. I would love to win the book, but I live in the UK, and the postage would be horrendous, but I'm sure that the person that wins it will be thrilled. I love your Audrey. What a character. With your permission I would love to 'save' a pic of her and her blankie, to use as wallpaper on my laptop. Blessings
ReplyDeleteBy all means, do.
DeleteToo funny! We all want to know if you find the chapter on Audacious Audrey!
ReplyDeletePurrs and hugs .....
I have had Audrey-like Cats. They are the best. I love your blog.
ReplyDeleteMy first cat preferred to sleep under the covers, too! I've never had another one like that!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to read that book! Fingers and toes crossed! :) How generous of you!
Deb you are so kind to make this offer. Two things I remind myself hourly about cats (1) I am staff to my fur girls (2) the more I know, the more I need to know about cats. =^..^=
ReplyDeleteHow many of us have had cats who help us make the bed. And when you're done, there's a lump in the middle of the bed between the sheets and it's still there hours later. Sometimes I pull up the corner just to make sure he's still breathing under all the covers. So cute!
ReplyDeleteI pass! Give to someone who have a cat right now! Does anyone understood what are they thinking? And wrote a book about this! Anyway, I miss my kitty but it was too difficult too keep.
ReplyDeleteCats are very lovely to their owners.
ReplyDeleteMy Tucker usually joins me while I make the bed, but he stays at the foot and out of the way. Others, I have to move in the first place so I can tidy up. Audrey sounds like she has always known what she wants - and expects to get.
ReplyDeleteThe Hubby often reminds me that I have no idea what our cats are thinking...like he has any idea! This book could help us out. Audrey has always been her own cat.
ReplyDeleteAudrey and Clara could be twins and they are so much alike in the way they hide under bedding!
ReplyDeleteI guess burrowing under the blankets strikes a cat as a good hidey hole. Even if their tail is sticking out.
ReplyDeleteI suppose you would need to actually be a cat in order to think like a cat! Heehee. Let us know if you learn something interesting!
ReplyDeleteSophie and the critters in the cottage xo
P.S. Esme is doing well on the RC Digestive. Thank you!
Yes, I think this book would be helpful in understanding my 5 cats!
ReplyDeleteI would love to receive this book! I'm still trying to get inside the mind of my two cats. One radiates love and the other not so much. Love, love, love cats!
ReplyDeleteAlice
Stunning images of Audrey - as always. I would love to be in the drawing for the book. Cats have been a part of my family for years. I can not imagine not being members of the cat family. Thank you for the opportunity to enter the giveaway! Photos fall forward.
