It's amazing how far behind you can get when your world is consumed with caring for a loved one. And yes, that includes a cat.
But Audrey is getting better every day.
All those nasty meds did a number on her coat so after her birthday lunch on the weekend there was a grooming session to make her beautiful again.
But nothing works better than the 'ol cat tongue.
The mouse-house needs some pampering and I have two birthdays to catch up with. I have never been late with a friends' card in the mail so she thought I had died. She reminds me I have sent her a card ON TIME for thirty years. My sister has a birthday this week and is tough to buy for so I need to get at it. And, I want to have dinner out with my sis because we both love to eat. lol
I had made plans weeks ago to sweater shop with my daughter and well, you guessed it. We haven't done that yet, either.
So now that Audrey is improving each day and sassy again I have to get goin'.
I also need to visit the cemetery and lay flowers for my mom. It's been twenty years since she left us and I still miss her everyday.
I have a garden that looks terrible and needs to be put to bed. Where are those garden fairies when you need them? And why did I plant such a big garden anyway?
If I have to look another tomato in the face I'm going to scream. All I want now is root veggies; carrots, parsnips, turnip, cabbage, sweet potatoes and so on. It must be fall. :)
There is a bake sale fundraiser for a favorite cat rescue coming up so I have to get busy making pumpkin loaves for the event. The ones I made last week are....gone. :)
This particular fundraiser is always a big success and the rescue depends on these events to pay for multiple cat spays and neuters and, of course, the unexpected vet bill. Country Cat Rescue has been going strong for thirty-five years.
Today we picked out doors for the interior and exterior of the house, found a recommended stair guy to build two stairs; one to the basement and one to the loft and picked out a rustic-looking door for the main floor bathroom. So it's been a productive day.
I need a few more of those.
Grand-dog Forrest came out for a visit and wasn't quite sure what to make of the new construction. And then he saw a squirrel...
Thanks for stopping by.
Enjoy your day,
hugs, Deb

You had good reason to get behind as you cared for Audrey but I'm so glad she back to her sassy self. The house is coming along isn't it!!
ReplyDeleteI never have enough time for all I want to do. I have to shake my head at people who say they don't know what they will do when they retire. I know what I would do - I just won't have the chance to retire!
ReplyDeleteAs for bake sales, I always spend too much at them. One could say that it is in a good cause (which is true) and that what I buy there is useful (also true) - but it seems like too little for my money simply because I eat everything I buy far too fast. I need more money or a smaller stomach.
Glad to hear AA is getting sassier by the day! Love hearing it!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy all the catching up on such good things. I am so happy you are able to get started on them now.
Love to all,
Lily
SO glad to hear Audrey is back to her cheeky self. We have been watching Sarah Off The Grid & I like when she goes shopping for her new house in the antique & salvage stores. I didn't get that many tomatoes but like you I'm ready for the root veggies on my plate.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love this post and hearing that your life is returning to normal after so much worry. That was a lot on your plate but now you can enjoy the things delayed, like shopping with your daughter. Not sure you'll enjoy putting the garden to bed (I never do!) but at least there is time to do it.
ReplyDeleteMy neighbor gave me loads of tomatoes and we made the best pasta -- just tomatoes, capers, artichoke hearts, spicy sausage, fresh herbs... so GOOD. Now I want to buy a bushel of tomatoes!
Three cheers on the house. Day by day! I was going to bake today but it's going to be 83 so maybe today I'll just grate zucchini!
YAY Audrey is better & back to her old self! that's great news!
ReplyDeletewow your house is actually looking like a house now, are you keeping it in with the style of the mouse house? your houses are built so differently to what we have here. it has me intrigued.
big hug for Audrey & Annie
thanx for sharing
So happy to hear how well your precious baby Audrey is doing. I have been there myself. I know the time and attention it sometimes takes to care for an ailing cat. I'm so glad she is improving. Cleaning themselves is always such a good positive sign!
ReplyDeleteHope your Sis has a very Happy Birthday!!!
Blessings to you, Net
Such good news about Audrey ♥ Ear scritches to Annie, too!
ReplyDeleteHave fun catching up.
That's a good cause for a fundraiser. Audrey and Annie must shake their heads at all the work going on.
ReplyDeleteOh, your house is looking fabulous! Audrey looks as beautiful as ever - thank goodness.
ReplyDeleteHoly smokes I can't believe how quickly the house is going up, Deb! Will you be in before the winter, do you think? How wonderful will that be, oh my gosh, I can't wait to see the finished house!!! Glad Audrey is feeling better, poor little thing.
ReplyDeleteIt's great to hear that Audrey has improved so much! And so much progress on your house!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy Audrey is back to her old self. You really have had lots going on lately. I've been pulling up plants in the garden too. It's a mess! And just think, in six months we will be dying to get out there and start over with the planting.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to read that Audrey is doing well! And your new house is coming along great. It will be beautiful and I know you can't wait for it to be finished. I wish I lived close enough to take some of those tomatoes off your hands, mine are finished and I'm missing them. :) Have a nice week!
ReplyDeleteDeb, it sounds like your life is going wonderful, what..with the great news regarding Audrey's health and healing, your lovely new home coming along beautifully, and other news you have shared with your blog friends. My life in the last few months have kind of been a downer, however. I lost my 16 y.o. himalayan, Carl, in April, just a few days after he turned 16. He was continually losing weight and after testing from our doc, was determined to be "old". Our 14 y.o. Blackie had two tumors on the sides of her mouth and a list of other ailments, all due to old age as well. We were told there was nothing that could have been done and we had done all we could to make her daily life comfortable. These two were very well loved and it hurt our hearts dearly to have them travel over the Rainbow Bridge as so many of your reader's beloved pets have gone. We miss and think of them daily along with our other healthy, younger cats, all 8 of them. These 8 are pampered, loved, spoiled, and everything else you can think of that the furbabies in your own and others lives can receive. We know our remaining kitties have had wonderful, fulfilled lives, and we love each of them.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say how grateful I am to read of Audrey's recovery and other fulfilling things going on in your life. You and the retired-guy will have a lovely, lovely life out there living on your Grandmother's property. How great is that?!
