A hard start to 2020

We have had a hard start to the new year.
We lost our little Annie to cancer January 11th. We fought for three years
but after two major surgeries, which she came through well, it returned with
a vengeance.
I have sat down to write a tribute to her with some of her best photos but can't do it.
It's too soon for me. I have put a photo and small tribute on instagram.

I've been sick for a month now with a deep chest cold.
I'm sure the stress of losing our Annie only added to the
time it's taking to heal.

Wilson has been lost without her but it only would have been
worse without Cora. She has kept him busy to some degree; she does her best.

I hope everyone has had a good start to the new year.
I'm going to just wipe January off the calendar and pray for
a better month ahead.
I'll be by to visit.

hugs, Deb

  2. I'm so very sorry. I loved Annie as well. This kind of loss takes time to begin to heal and it doesn't help that you are physically ill too. You have all my sympathies and love.

  3. Sorry for your loss. As a true pet lover, I'm sure this has been difficult for you. We lost our Samson in December. It is never easy saying goodbye to a "family member". Take care. -Jenn

  4. Dear Deb; The sad news about your little Annie wrenches at my heart--it seems so soon after Audrey's death. Experiences in the past with our rescue cats--two young brothers who died with cancer--makes me wonder if a rough start as strays leaves some cats vulnerable even though we bring them home and give them good care.
We lost our Charlie-cat this week--a midnight attack by stray dogs. The grieving process takes a long time--we look for them in their familiar places. I wish we could 'save' them all.
I'm sure that watching Annie's decline has worn you out. I hope you soon feel better physically. When we lose a pet there is no time line for missing them

  11. I'm so sorry. It is very hard to lose a furry friend, no matter what the circumstances. It sounds like she could not have had a better family to love her. We have lost a few as well over the years. Wishing you peace ... if not just yet, then as time goes by.

I've been following for a bit, just haven't been commenting.

  12. Dearest Deb, I was just thinking of you yesterday realizing you had not posted in a while. Now I know why and am so very sorry to hear of Annie's passing. I know how precious she was and how hard you had worked to keep her going. Thankfully you will always have amazing memories of her time with you.
Now you must take care of yourself - not good to be under the weather for so long. Be well soon - will look forward to you sharing brighter days ahead.
    Much love, Mary x

  16. Oh Deb, I am so sorry for your loss of Annie. She was certainly a most beloved member of the family & it will take time for that heart ache to reduce (we both know from experience it never goes completely). That nasty super cold virus that is going around is horrible & takes quite a lot to get rid of, I had for abut 6 weeks. Sending you lots of healing thoughts.

  18. Oh Deb, I will miss photos and stories of our Annie. I'm so sorry you have to experience this loss when you aren't at full strength physically. I suspect you are right about the stress. Please do take care. I remember well the effect of losing Stimpy on Gypsy. I'm so glad Cora is hanging in there, working her magic -- on both you AND Wilson. Biggest hugs to you, my friend. We will look forward to the photos when and only when you are ready.

  21. Take care, Deb. My sister has that same cold and it takes ages to shake. Keep warm and sleep as much as you can.
I'm so sad about Annie. I can't give Timothy enough kisses and cuddles. We love them so, don't we?
I'm so sorry for your loss.

  22. Deb, I can't believe that you lost Annie. I'm so sorry. We recently lost Tux (Jan.13th) and may lose Julie (his sibling) any day to this mysterious paralyzed jaw syndrome. Tux also had cancer, but did so well these last 3 years that we thought or hoped that he would continue to thrive. Whatever Julie has is puzzling to us and the Vets. It may be cancer too... but so far blood work and x-rays show nothing.

  27. I'm so sorry. I just found your blog again. A idiot at work crashed my computer and lost all my bookmarks. My old timers made me not remember the name of most of the blogs I read. I'm sorry about your sweet Annie.
