In order to go for a walk with Kane today I needed a coat, scarf and gloves. The
colder winds are upon us and it was cloudy and very cool. Kane loves this weather.
I put food down early for the
ferals today. I know once I'm finished my day I won't want to go back out. I can do this on the weekend because the lot is empty of truckers. The food will be appreciated. There is never a crumb left the next day. I think about what's ahead for them with winter not far off. It always weighs heavy on me.
Although many people have visited
Annie and the kittens, no one has committed to adopting one, yet.
My daughter
Jess will be taking
Hugo soon and she is thinking of taking a kitten so
Hugo will have a friend. She is really falling for
Bree.
I have to face the fact that
my fostered kittens may have to
return to the shelter where more people will see them. It is the way it is and after a certain time I won't be doing them any good to hang on to them thinking I will adopt them from home. People want kittens (very evident by the number of adult cats that sit waiting for homes while kittens come and go) so it is best to have them very visible when they are tiny so the public can see them. I will work very hard to find the right home in the next month because I know it will be incredibly hard to take them back. Wish me luck with this.
hugs, Deb
My friend is volunteering in a shelter, and it's opening up her eyes to how kitten fly out the door...and the older cats don't. She just adopted two year old cats, and is happy settling in with them.
ReplyDeleteAt this point, we have one Bootsie, who is 4 or 5ish we think. But when we move and get a house, I have plans for some older cats to come and join us. They need loving just as much as the kittens do.

I do wish you luck, sending positive thoughts that all the babies are adopted.
ReplyDeleteIt's turned very cold here, very suddenly!

We'll keep our fingers and paws crossed that the babies get forever homes soon. All of us were adopted from one year and up. Our humans have never adopted tiny kittens, it's just the way things happened with us - we needed homes.

PS - they had not owned cats previous to us, they had dogs. We didn't bother to tell them what they were in for!!!
I wish you luck because it would be very hard to take them back. Keep warm and snug and thank you for feeding those homeless kitties.. Hugs GJ xx
ReplyDeleteHi Deb,
ReplyDeleteOur weather has changed over night as well, a very fall day with a morning temp of just 3 degrees...
Good luck with finding a home for the kittens, I think everybody loves a baby, humans or animals.
Enjoy your day!
All the Best,
Christine
Oh Deb,
ReplyDeleteI feel for you, you are in my thoughts. Loving and caring for animals is fun, rewarding and also heart breaking and worrisome.
I so appreciate what you do!!!
I wish you luck, and I always keep my eyes peeled and ears open for anyone looking for a kitty, because I know you could hook them up. :) I would find it incredibly hard to take those babies back.
