Heading out for ice-cream on Canada Day
with the dog.
It has become a tradition.
We went for the best at Scoops in Pakenham.

Yes, Kane loves his treat and he and I shared a BIG vanilla ice cream cone. His half went into a bowl and you can just guess who got the cone. ;-)There will be fire-works everywhere tonight. In past years I always stayed home with our dog as it is a night of terror for him. Many dogs hate the sound of fire-works and should never be taken to these events. Kane was so traumatized at the sound of them that we could not leave him alone at home. One of us always stayed with him. Even with that, he shook like a leaf. But at 13 now, his hearing is going so it will be interesting to see if he even notices. I am happy to volunteer this year and will shut all windows, put on a movie and pop some popcorn and sneak a peak from my dining-room window.
Canada...147 years young.
Enjoy everyone.
hugs, Deb
Our cats hate fireworks! You'll have fun at home, too. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Canada Day!
Glad Kane got his ice cream :)

Happy Canada Day!
ReplyDeleteKane looks so handsome! Glad he got his ice cream.
ReplyDeleteSad that he's losing hearing but if it saves him from the terror of fireworks, it's one small good thing.
Our kitties DO NOT like fireworks!
Our kitties find the most unusual places to try to hide from fireworks; behind the speaker, in the corner of the hallway, under the claw-foot bathtub. Maybe we should try an ice-cream treat for them (just a lick!) to help them through it.
ReplyDeleteHow did Kane do this year? My two boys, Tucker and Renn, did very well. They stuck close to me and I talk them through the fireworks, but they didn't hide - and we live very close to where the fireworks are set off, so I am quite proud of them.
ReplyDeleteWe have a Scoops down here in Port Burwell , best ice cream around ! Wonderful photos and post glad you had a good day ! Our Miggs doesn't like fireworks either but thankfully there weren't any here as most people were out at them other places ! Thanks for sharing , Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteKane is so lovely. Our little dog no longer hears the fireworks. Hope you enjoy your afternoon. Ice cream sounds so good on a hot day.
ReplyDeleteHow did our boy Kane handle the fireworks? By the way, he looks wonderful for an older fellow.
ReplyDeleteYou are a great Mom...
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Linda :o)
I feel sorry for all the little animals with fireworks going off every where....hard to fathom what they are thinking.
ReplyDeleteKane looks quite pleased!
