Rae-Rae Joy

Rae-Rae & Joe came to live with us 3 years ago when my daughter was home for 3 months.

 I fell head-over-heels for her then

so it's no wonder I am putty in her paws once again.

She's a joy to have around and spends most of her time in my daughter's room. Oh, she does come out to do her walk-about, much like the Queen, and sometimes hissing a bit just to let everyone know she's no push-over, but she does spend many an hour resting on the bed. I go in to brush her daily and have a little play-time with her.
I have a feeling already I am going to miss her once again.

The buds are on the lilacs and the sun is shining brightly this morning. We expect temperatures between +13  & +15C. If it does reach that it will be the warmest day this year so far.

I put out extra food at the tree, a fresh apple and some peanuts for the squirrels. Annie won't be leaving the dining-room window anytime soon.

Almonte delights

Apple tea with a doughnut muffin.

The doughnut muffin was baked by Bob from Baker Bob's Bakery in Almonte.

It has a dusting of cinnamon sugar all over.

Having breakfast with the cutest little munchkin and her parents.

She turned 7 months today.

I love her boots

She always loves Nana's bracelets

and I love her pudgy fingers

She finds Gramps absolutely fascinating

and always wants to know 'what's going on'

and has discovered she enjoys the local Humm magazine.

And then off she goes all dressed in purple on this gloomy, windy, Spring day.

Well, that sure started my day off right. :)

I don't notice the 'gloom' anymore.

She said she saw her and thought of me. haha!

Winding up the week

Although it looked quite cold here in my last post, inside we are only thinking Spring.
I am knitting a basket-weave blanket for my grandittle, Riley's little dolly bed. The one I gave her on Valentine's Day was red and a heavy wool. This will be nice and light for Spring. Must make a little pillow to go with it, too. I'm making good use of my yarn bowl.

I haven't had too much cat-sitting since last week but was happy to care for two lovely senior ladies the last few days.

I have cared for these cats for over 10 years now. Love, love, love them.  They are sisters and live a comfy, contented life.

I dropped in to our book store to pick up some fresh scones on my way home.

Maple Blueberry Scones with Maple icing. They were so delicious I have to say I now have a 'favorite' scone. What I don't have is the recipe....sorry!

Emails are coming in now for 'cat-sitting' over the Easter weekend. Also, May will be very busy this year. There's no reason - it's just the way it goes with this service. My clients usually give me lots of notice, albeit there's always one or two...you know, and I am able to organize my days well in advance.

Annie is showing off her beautiful green peepers with the brown splotch in the left one.

It's an odd-looking thing that was there when she arrived at our home from the shelter. It even has my vet wonderin'??  We are keeping an eye on it. *grin*

Looking for signs of Spring

We took a stroll around our side of town looking for signs of spring but there's not much to report yet.
The wind was cold so we are still in winter coats.

No matter what the season this town is a beautiful place to live. The town hall sitting at the bridge in the center of town is a gorgeous, heritage building.

Here's one sign...The Mississippi River was moving fast as it always does this time of year.

There is plenty of snow still here.

Kane enjoyed the 50 minute walk and had a good snooze afterwards.
We'll check again in a few days for signs of new life around our town.

The sun came out just long enough for Annie to have a cat-nap.

Easter eggs

I have gathered up lots of eggs to fill with little surprises for the family this Easter.

The little ones enjoy the 'hunt' just as much as the big ones. haha!
Here's a couple of egg-hunters.in action.

You never know what the Easter bunny may have left in them. It could be chocolate, jelly beans or maybe even a loonie or two. "Oh, the thrill of it all.

My little bunny found herself a Mister.

There was lots of snoozin' in the sun-puddles today.

Sierra has adopted the bear in a chick suit and I don't have the heart to take it from her. She loves it so it's hers now.

Having never had kittens :), her maternal side is now content. Just try and take it on her. :[

Chick..less on April Fools Day

Well, April has finally arrived.

I noticed a tulip showing it's face at the front of the house today.

"Hello brave little tulip." 

I hope this weather is not an April fool's joke for the early flowers.

Audrey has been on a mission all morning trying out different ways to reach the Easter tree. 

"I'm pretty sure I have it figured out."

Odd thing though. I can't seem to find the little chick I had in a tea-cup this morning.
I think someone is playing an April Fool's Day trick on me.
