Gentian Ear Treatment might be the ticket

I really do!"

I am so happy to post that we just may have found a product that is going to help my dog,  Kane with his ear infections. It is called Gentian Ear Treatment and from what I have seen after 2 applications I think we have found something that might be the ticket. It is made by the Urban Carnivore and the ingredients are witch hazel, boric acid and gentian violet solution. A lady who owns a basset hound with ear problems told me that this was the only solution that helped her dog after one application and she has been ear-infection free ever since. That sounded too good to be true but I told her I would try it. Within the hour a bottle was sitting at my door. How nice of this woman. We have treated Kane with it after reading more about the product and his ears tonight look good. He has not seemed bothered by his ears since the first application. I will keep you posted on the results of this product because I know there are many dogs with a similar problem after reading many of your comments. I have been looking at grain-free food also this last week and may be changing his diet somewhat. This product can also be used on cats. The label shows a dog and a cat. Good luck!

hugs, Deb

Introducing yourself

This is how I introduce myself every visit. When you offer your hand to a cat to sniff it is giving them a moment to pick up your scent and adapt to having you now in the home.
What you should never do is enter their home and scoop them up immediately. Some cats may like this but most will not. They need a moment to get used to you in their space.

If a cat is outside when you approach it, do not bend down and pick it up. Crouch down to the cat's level and offer your hand first. You will know immediately if the cat wants you to invade it's space. If the cat backs off, do not scoop it up. If it approaches with tail up and looks at you then you can safely pick it up.

When Mr. Ed first wakes up I do not move him even if it is time to make up the bed. He is a very old cat (21 years) and he needs a bit of time to stretch and shake the cobwebs from his triangular head before he jumps off the bed. This is the look I get when I say to him, "Ed, it's time to wake up now and have breakfast".

I'm off to bunny-sit 2 bunnies now. They are not easy to photograph as they are in cages but I will try to get one as I cuddle them. I'll bring them some lettuce for a Saturday night treat.

Enjoy your Saturday!

TGIF - Three Gorgeous Incredible Felines

I can't perform miracles, Rosie. It takes a minute to get dinner ready. Now you lie down on the floor and look cute while I perform magic in your kitchen.

"Like this, my most wonderful and delightful cat-nanny?"  "You got it, Rosie." Gosh she's cute!

Isn't Puff too pretty to be a boy? I haven't seen him for awhile and am excited to know I will be caring for him again soon. I'm like the pawpawratsi around this cat. He doesn't mind - he's a bit taken too with his looks. I've caught him in the mirror more than once.

Last night I thought there was a someone in my kitchen. It was the wee hours of the morning and I heard what sounded like a burglar making his dinner. So, I snuck into the kitchen with my camera so I could take a picture of this terrifying thief for the authorities and look who I found in the cat-cupboard whippin' up a new recipe. Rae-Rae was picking out her dishes to make her scrumpdillyishus catserole for her and the gang. "I can't find the can of tuna, nan. It's no good without the tuna." Do excuse the quality of the photo as I was shaking with terror and it's amazing that I was able to take a picture at all. Anyway, I got Rae-Rae all set up for her cook-off and then fell back into bed.  If it turns out she will share with all you kitties in blogland.

"No tuna, nan"

Well, you didn't get a break from me after-all because I have a very smart husband who can fix these annoying computers when they get sick. Now I can go blog-hoppin' after dog-walking. Yah!

Baby, "bye bye"

One last hug for Baby before bidding her farewell. My last visit (for now) was this morning and I will miss this darling, brave little girl. She says not to worry about her because she runs faster, climbs further and enjoys the howls of the neighbor dogs who protect her from the wildness of her life. "Stay well and stay slim, little Baby".

Rosie girl was my next stop and she was right ready for breakfast. She has lost some weight also recently although I didn't think she needed to but her vet did. She really enjoys her food so climbing my leg got me popping the can even faster than normal. She is a darling cat and so beautiful to look at. I will enjoy her for a few days.

Off to see Ebony & Cally who are tolerating each other quite nicely. They love company too and Cally especially loves to be carried around. We still have a week to go so I am thinking about bringing some special toys for them to play with. Nothing worse than boredom, right?
(picture from the net)
Starting tomorrow I have the bunnies for a few days. This is rather unexpected since I only see them at Easter usually but that's fine, I look forward to seeing them. I asked their owner if there was any changes with the bunnies. She said only one. That the biggest bunny has a new litter box because he ate the other one. Okey-dokey!

Kane & I headed over to pick up my sign for the car and landed home just minutes before it started to rain. Not a bad, scary rain that would have me head back out to put Baby in. Just a summer rain that will water my flowers so I don't have to do it. I think I need new flowers soon at the front of the house. Some of mine look ill and fall flowers are the finest.

Have a purr-fect weekend everyone. I will be off-line for awhile as my computer needs some attention. I'll miss you, for sure.

Some cats are blessed

Today starts with coffee in a tea-cup. I'm still playing with dishes.....Lord, make me stop.

Yesterday seemed rather successful regarding Ebony & new-comer Cally. At least when I arrived they were both sitting in the living-room and not a hair out of place. I fed them in separate rooms and I will continue to do that for awhile. Watching Cally play with a dangly toy filled me with joy for her. How easy it would have been to send her up to our local shelter and be rid of her but her new owners are sensitive, caring and aware of the situation in the summer in shelters and they decided to give her a try. HOW LUCKY IS SHE to be accepted and loved without any question. I went on-line to see what the numbers are at the local shelter and as it stands there are 113 cats. Cally would have been the 114th cat to call a cage a home. Little Belle (a short-haired white, female with dietary issues) is still there waiting for a home. She has been there 10 months. I held Cally and she purred in my arms. Without a doubt in my mind, I believe she knows how lucky she is.

I am caring for Rosie (calico kitty) for 3 days. She's a doll! I will photo her if I can get her to stay still for just one moment. She is a fire-cracker and loves to play fetch. She's another one that likes to snoop in my bag when I arrive. Today it paid off and she had herself a little catnip fish.

I have a question for all dog-owners. I have mentioned in past blogs that my dog, Kane suffers from yeast infection in his ears. We had them cleaned at the vets and they looked good for 3 days. Now the infection is back and although he doesn't scratch too much there is an odour that tells me it is still present. They also look waxy again. My vet tells me it is chronic so I need to find a natural way to keep it under control. He has been on meds before that didn't work, powders that dried things up but it came back, colloidal silver drops in the ears that help a little but not enough and just washing, washing, washing.  Anyone? I need help for this guy. Not only does it feel itchy for him but he smells. I did ask my vet if I should change his diet in any way and she said "No".

I'm looking for all natural remedies. I'll try anything that does not have side effects.

Here's the latest photo of my grand-daughter, Riley. I know "brag..brag...brag..." (can't help it :)

"Go Fish"

"Play a game of fish with me, Deb" How can I refuse. We batted those fish around for quite some time. Little Cally is doing her best to get along with Ebony and this is no easy task. Ebony has decided to not eat with Cally and keep at least 10 feet between them. That's ok, we'll take it slow and I'll help them along. It isn't easy for Ebony who has been alone for many years to accept a new (stray) cat into her home just as her owners are leaving for holidays. And a new cat-sitter! "YEOW"

I started feeding them on different floors and it has helped a pinch. At least I see now that Ebony is enjoying her dinner. We will take baby-steps and I have 10 days to work with them.

Poor Ebony sneaks by quietly

Next, it is off to see Baby. She is waiting on breakfast and then she's outta here. She gets to sit amongst the flowers all day and here she is saying "howdy".

Such a busy life when you are a cat-sitter. Next stop was to pick up keys for clients starting tomorrow then off to a sign shop to have a sign done for my car that will read JUST CATS in-home cat-sitting service with my name, phone number and website. I do believe this is the best way to advertise and it will look kinda cute, don't ya think. Gary's just happy I'm not having the car painted. "Great idea, Gary"

Keys were dropped off tonight and 3 emails came in since noon for cat-sitting this weekend and next week. I will be hopping like a bunny this next few days. Did you know I have looked after bunnies too? Well, I have and they were so snuggly. I cared for them over Easter so I had chocolate ones and the real thing.

Hope you all had a great day. It's so beautiful here with the sunshine and the cool breeze. Lovin' it!
Oh yes, and look who was waiting for me when I arrived home.

Little cats & BIG NEWS

Cally & I had a ball this morning playing with a dangley toy. She is so adaptable and ready to make this house her home. Ebony, on the other hand (paw), has other ideas but she is very curious of her and I think this will work out to be a 2-cat home. I sure hope so. I'm in love already.

Next, I was off to see Baby and release her from the house. She was probably pacing like a lioness to get out to the great outdoors and the sunshine and prowl & hunt. That's her life! She was happy to see me and didn't even eat much breakfast before she was rolling in the sunshine.

"WE HAVE SOME HOWLIN' GOOD NEWS"

"THE 'OL GAL HAS SOLD PAMPERED PUPS PASTRIES'
I am beyond thrilled that this has been possible at such a perfect time for me. As you know, I have decided to put all my time and energy into the cat-sitting service that I started years ago and I want to make it all that it can be. To know that the biscuit business will carry on does my heart well.
I will be meeting with the future new owner this week and it will be fun keeping you all posted on how it's going. I can barely express how happy I am and I know that this is all meant to be.
"LIFE IS GOOD! and Kane, don't you worry, mom will still keep you in biscuits"

just starting out...

It was fun.
