Today we laid our Ed to rest on our property in amongst the maples. He's with the others now and this week I will paint a little rock to put on the grave the next time we are there. I thought I would pick a flower or two in the field to place at his spot but there was not one to be found. We are weeks behind with Spring and proof of that once again today. There should have been many. For those who are new to my blog, we lost Ed to kidney failure last December. He was in his 26th year. I know how incredible that sounds but we only adopted Ed at the age of 20 from a local shelter and he was with us for almost six years. My veterinarian told me that Asian cats have a tendency to live longer than most other breeds. Well, he proved her right and we are so happy he did.
I'm feeling a little low today but I'm also very happy to have had the priviledge of knowing him and loving him for the time we did.
Rest in peace, dear Ed. We miss you every single day and want you to know that your Lily is doing ok.
hugs, Deb
Your love for Ed...and his for you...will last forever. Heartfelt condolences to you on this day.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much.
DeleteA sad anniversary for you. Ed looks amazing for his years in the photo , and I do remember you posting about him. I know what it is to miss a beloved cat and I am sorry for this loss.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Kathy. He was a wonderful cat.
DeleteMy pit bull was named Ed.........he died 3 years ago at age 14, a ripe old age for that breed. But you never stop missing them.
ReplyDeleteI am missing Nexxie sharply today..........my little buddy. Can't believe he is gone.
I remember when Eddie died, Hilary. It was so sad. And now Nexxie. It's tough, isn't it. Thanks for your comment.
DeleteI's a heartbreak we all carry for our beloved pets, along with the memory of how much we loved them and what great joy and happiness they brought to our lives. Sweet memories of your darling Mr. Ed.....
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for these nice words. I can tell you have loved and lost a pet, too.
DeleteOh Deb, that has to be very sad and difficult indeed. Those of us who have lost our fur kids can relate. I love the idea of painting the rock and planting the flowers. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to doing that. Thanks Jeanie.
DeleteDon't be sad my friend...
ReplyDeleteMr Ed knows how much he was loved♥️
Have some ice cream....
Linda :o)
I may have to add some apple crisp to it. Thanks Linda.
DeleteWhat a long life Mr. Ed had! A sweet and good life, the years spent with you.
ReplyDeleteFlowerLady
Thank you FlowerLady Lorraine. We loved him so much.
Delete{{hugs}} from me...I loved that old boy too. Mr. Ed was one of those Cats in a Million.
ReplyDeleteHe sure was, Trish. I know how much you enjoyed my posts of Ed. You always commented that you had a crush on him. I did too. :)
ReplyDeleteWe are so very sorry to hear about dear Ed. Thank you for loving and caring for that precious soul. Love and hugs from all of us.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. He gave back as much love as he received. He was very special.
DeleteA sad day for you, and a grand, great cat.
ReplyDeleteThanks William. Yes, he was that for sure.
DeleteThey steal a piece of your heart ,and never let go.
ReplyDeleteRest in Peace sweet boy.
Jane x
We wouldn't have it any other way, right Jane? Thank you for your nice comment.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about the Siamese?? Boy, when we lose them, they leave such a big hole to fill. I'm coming up on the one year anniversary of losing my Tiffany and it still hurts so much. Her Siamese replacement is giving me a run for my money though. Heaven sent kisses Ed....
ReplyDeleteYou know, Mary, when I adopted Ed my vet said to me, "You've never had a Siamese before and I can guarantee you that you will find this cat different from the others." And I did. He was like a little person in a cat costume. So full of wonder, so affectionate and the most stubborn feline I had ever known. He loved his yard much like a dog would and was never ready to come in when called. And he had the most loving attachment to our little white cat, Lily. He really, truly loved her. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful that Ed gave you so many wonderful years of enjoyment. Our furry four legged friends stay in our heart forever.
ReplyDeleteHugs!
xo Catherine
It felt like he had been with us all his life. Thanks Catherine.
DeleteI am so glad Mr Ed came to live with you the last years of his life. He had his Lily and all of you and us as his fans! What a dear old gentleman he was. RIP Mr Ed. They do take a part of us with them don't they.
ReplyDeletehugs, Linda
You were definitely one of his fans, Linda. Thanks for your comment.
DeleteI know the hurt that losing a beloved one causes. Ed was privileged to belong to a family such as yours.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tina.
DeleteGrief hits us like a wave. Hugs to you
ReplyDeleteGail
Thank you.
DeleteOh, Deb. Your beautiful post about Ed has me crying.
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to lose one of our dear kitties and Ed was a VERY special kitty. They have such pure and innocent souls!
Hugs to you. He will live always in your heart.
You would know Pat being such a cat-lover yourself. Thank you.
DeleteSiamese cats are so special ... they worm their little pointy faces into such deep places in our hearts. Sending hugs for you this morning.
ReplyDeleteAnd boy was his face pointy. haha! Thanks so much.
DeleteBeautiful tribute to Ed!
ReplyDelete♥
Thank you Marilia.
DeleteHe had such a loving home for the time he shared with you. You have my sympathy. My cat of unknown age who has 3 legs has developed renal failure. I cherish every minute with him. You are in my thoughts.
ReplyDeleteThank you Marilyn. I'm sending you good thoughts on your kitties health and hope he has lots of time yet with you.
DeleteJust popping over to give you a big virtual hug Deb. Take care!
ReplyDeleteMadelief x
Thank you Madelief. That is very sweet of you.
DeleteHugs to you and Lily! We all miss Mr. Ed.
ReplyDeleteWe loved Ed like he was our own.
ReplyDeleteAnd we will always love him.
It is comforting to know his mortal remains rest among those who have
gone before. His life force is part of
the universe and will always be with
us.
What a lovely tribute. And it's so wonderful that you adopted him as an elder cat. Lucky Ed, lucky you. I still get pangs about losing my kitty Gadoo, and it's been 16 years. Lump in throat.
ReplyDeleteMy internet was down and I missed this. So sorry to hear you lost Ed. My Utah is 26 and I know the end is near. I'm just not ready for it. It's so nice that you have that property and can keep them all close by.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had a special place for him, and even gladder that I got to meet him! What an amazing cat. I am still missing my SOphie so much. It's so hard when they leave us! Lovely tribute to a lovely cat.
