Easter sunday

Easter Sunday was a cool and sunny day. Because our dinner with the family is today, we spent a lot of time yesterday, outside, deciding what to do with all the mess left over from the construction. I cleaned up a few of the feeders. It was time to change the tin sheet over the wooden box for a wooden roof.  We just used some left-over strapping from the house building for now. It did the trick.
It was so amusing to watch the Chickadees fly in and out observing the work at their favorite feeding spot.

The chain is to lock up our trailer but it is moving to another spot tomorrow. YAH!
I think she approves.

I also added another bird house; this one on a wooden post outside the dining-area window. I'm not sure if this will be ok because of possible predators but we will first see if it is useful to a bird and then we'll keep an eye on it. This makes 4 little bird-houses in the new development. Cheap rent birdies.....come and take a tour.
I think my cat bird house will love it here after spending 25 years on our front porch at the old house.
It only housed a sparrow and her babies once but that was even a surprise.

I filled Easter baskets for the grands....1, 2, 3. :)))

I baked a lemon square dessert for Easter dinner. Lots of lemon, cream cheese and whipped cream on a cookie base. Yum!

I took a long walk up our road, which I do every day, just to collect my thoughts.

I'm feeling very thankful on this beautiful Easter Monday even if the wind is cold and bites my face.
It is Spring; the birds are singing & I have a chocolate bunny to eat. :))

hugs, Deb

  1. First off, I like your new blog sidebar -- maybe it's not new, but first I've seen it! Love the picture of you and also of your three adorable grands.
Aren't chickadees the best? Such brave, cheerful little souls. And lemon desserts and Easter just seem to go together.
Sounds like lots of good things happening there. Happy Easter!

  2. Those chickadees are neat birds. And what a quirky cat-bird house you have. I hope we see it filled with feathered tenants soon. Happy Easter to you and yours. Jo

  3. Love the pics of the bird feeders... and the lemon cake. How about giving us the recipe? It sounds a bit similar to one we make with chocolate pudding, cream cheese, and a cookie base...

  4. I love walking outside these mornings and hearing the birds chirping, the woodpeckers pecking, and the squirrels chattering. My 'o' cats run up the walkway to meet me (or my food-laden hands), which they didn't do when the snow was around. Yay!

  13. How your Easter was totally wonderful. What was it like to be a guest rather than a host?
