From the garden bench

This is my view as I have a snack and wait to see what birds show up this morning.

A nut-hatch, young wrens and numerous chickadees dropped by for a bite. The shy birds will wait until you have left the area unless you hide from their view.

The morning glories are still blooming but the glads are all but finished. Just one sweet sun-flower is blooming by the bird-house.

"Mornin' Chickadee. I see you chose a peanut for your snack."

The sack of potatoes are blooming near the freshly scrubbed bird-bath.  At some point today the family of blue-jays will be by for a drink and a bath.

Oatmeal Cranberry cookies go well with tea while I enjoy my little oasis on this gorgeous, lazy summer day.

"Thank you for all your sweet comments on my last post."
 hugs, Deb

  2. I filled our bird bath today, too! I had been busy and let it go dry the last few days. I'm sure the birds will appreciate a drink this evening!

Do you know the little trick of a copper penny in it to keep the water from getting slimy? You'll have to look online for a date for Canadian copper pennies to see how old yours have to be to be solid copper. Two or three in the water keeps it fresh longer. Or, if you have a small piece of copper pipe from your construction, that works, too!

  3. Hi Deb! Oh, what a wonderful shady spot to watch the birds. That tea and cookie look pretty good too! ;) Now do the kitties watch at the windows to watch the birds? Well, maybe not the little napping one! :) Thanks for popping in to see me and hope all is well in your world.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  8. Lovely photos ! You have such a lovely area there . Our chickadees have returned as has our Blue Jays and nuthatch now, Grackles have gone Eastern Blue birds are about more now , hummers are feasting before their big journey but the Oriels are getting less and visiting the feeders less to starlings are flying in huge flocks and gardens are looking a bit ragged now and nearing their end even some leaves on the trees have already begun to change down here . I cant believe the change in temps here fall like already or the fact that August is nearing it's end . Where do the days go . Thanks for sharing , Have a good day !

    1. The leaves are starting here, too, Elaine. Just some at the top. This has been the quickest summer I can remember. Or am I just getting old? haha!

  9. You are lovin your country life! Soon the bird song will diminish here, but we will still have several birds that spend the entire year in our part neck of the woods. I will feed them all winter.

  11. I wonder how long the hummers are going to be still using that feeder before they take off for the season.
