Thanks for all the birthday wishes

I woke up the morning of my birthday, rib still sore and riveting from the wedding and my first thought was.."OK...I'm not 60 yet" which was so funny because it really is just a number, right? I wandered into the kitchen and all my fans were waiting, not with a birthday gift, just waiting with mouths open
and in chorus. "Where's breakfast, 'ol lady?" They stand there with tails up high and smug looks on their aging faces. I start thinking about some of my old relatives for some reason. I grabbed a coffee first (it is my birthday, after-all) and then dished it out. The dry is always there but they want the smelly stuff in the morning. They will now head for the deck and sleep off the trauma of 'waiting' for breakfast. Like my kids say, "It's like a retirement home for old cats around here" Yep, they got that right.
What a glorious day to have a birthday. My plans were made for the day. Cat-sitting and visiting Helma and then a long walk with Kane. More flower purchasing for the front of the house where I ran into a cat-sitting client/blogger friend. She is waiting for twin grandchildren to be born. WOW! And then dinner out with Gary, John, Brit & Riley at the pub where Ross the waiter says "the usual?"  I love that!

It was a nice, relaxing birthday. I didn't have the energy for anything but. I've added flowers to the front entrance and I am happy with that.
One of the cats in my care this week is a gorgeous black beauty named Ebony.
Right now there are many beautiful black cats sitting at our local shelter. Please take a look at their website if you are looking to add a wonderful companion to your family.http://www.lanarkanimals.ca/

Does your cat have hairball issues? Try giving the cat some tonic-lax that will help the hair move through the system and out into the litter-box.
Here you see me putting it on a dish for Ebony as she just laps it up along with her dinner.
It works........it's great........they like it.

hugs, Deb
I'll draw tomorrow night for the give-away. You still have time to comment.

  2. Don't you just love those old faces? They just grab my heart! What a joy it is to know that you are making their last years the best years of their lives.
You are such a lovely lady, Deb.
Since black cats are my very favourite, I often wonder why they are least adopted. Surely it cannot be the old black cat superstition in this day and age. I find them just so sleek and elegant. They have been consistently my sweetest and most loving as well as long lived kitties. I will be praying that these black beauties will find gentle, loving, intelligent homes.
    Love to you.
P.S. Any more wedding photos for us?

  4. Sounds like a wonderful day! I love how they look at you in the morning like they are starving. Charlie will wake me up for his wet food. So happy you had a good birthday! 60 isn't so bad my friend. hugs, Linda

  5. Hey, belated happy birthday! Hope you had a great one!

I am scared of anything with the word "lax" in it... ;)

  6. Hi Deb, sorry for being late with the birthday wishes... happy birthday. It sounded like a lovely peaceful birthday, doing just what you love doing! A retirement home for old cats - I love that so much (I know I would get on with you just perfectly!!). What a lovely sentiment.
P.S. I wish I could hands on the Tonic-Lax - the cats struggle a bit with hairballs at the moment since it's dry season and all grass have dried out. I planted some cat grass yesterday and hope I'll be able to keep it alive during summertime.
P.S.S. Twinkle is not polydactyl although I can see that it appears a bit like it on the image.
    Have a lovely weekend.
