A Favorite Thing

"Happy December, everyone." One of my favorite things at Christmas is this collection of peuter ornaments that was given to me by a friend one year.

These doors are normally closed due to this tyrant.

I usually hang them on garland that winds up our stair-case but this year I thought I would scatter them about in my step-back cupboard.

I am anxious to have my tree to decorate. It won't be a huge, 9 foot one like usual but it will sit on a table again like last year. I really enjoyed having a table tree that almost reached the ceiling and came alive with a tiny train set that went around the track. It was different and I liked it. Riley loved the train.
Audrey was very small that year (that's her in the header photo) but she still managed to get up, close and personal, with the tree. She seemed content though to bat at a few ornaments and leave it at that. This year, I don't know what's going to happen. I expect she'll demolish it  but I am presently having long chats with her hoping she will control herself. I told her to expect to have some 'time-outs' in the dog crate if I find her hanging from the branches.

                                                  "Well, I never!"

"You never WHAT? Do anything bad? Forget it Audrey, they are on to you."

I'll be joining A Favorite Thing at http://mockingbirdhillcottage.com/.

hugs, Deb

  2. Annie is adorable. Wish she could meet my Jupie but who knows, maybe they wouldn't like each other! I love your cat pewter ornament.

  3. Cute way to display the ornaments. One of my old cats used to climb the trunk of the Xmas tree, one used to steal little fabric ornments and run away with them and another liked to sleep under it on the velvet tree skirt-- cats have taste!

  4. Love all the kitties on your pewter ornaments. Audrey looks so innocent. Then again, so does Mina. So far she hasn't climbed a tree. She did help put one up ... sort of! What she likes (so far) is playing hide and seek under the tree skirt. Hugs---

Deb, I also want to tell you that the photo of Cali soaking up the sun is lovely, so bittersweet...such a gift she gave you!

  8. Oh, I love the pewter ornaments scattered around in the "step-back" and love it, too! You already have it looking so pretty. Surely Audrey will respite the tree... Well, maybe we can hope?! Best wishes for a gentle Christmas Season, including Audrey's behavior.
Hope it is going well with the diabetic cat you are caring for. I know you have said you are fast with a needle! That's great! You are such a blessing.
Cali's sunny photo on the top of the side bar is beautiful. She is precious. Thank you for gifting us with it.
    Love to you,

  11. That last photo of Audrey is hilarious! The look on her face is priceless. I love those pewter ornaments. Hopefully the cats behave with all your decorations out! Mine are pretty good about leaving decorations alone, thankfully.

  12. I'm so very sorry to read about your beloved Cali. We lost our doggie, Honey, in September. Sending you lots and lots of hugs.

I adore pewter, your ornaments are so charming, love them mixed in with your other things in your cupboard.

  18. Oh Dearest Audrey, I'm certain you keep Your Woman completely amused with all your facial expressions. I myself only have a few but I am totally envious of the photo above. The complete indignation you must endure of having to share your blog with posts and photos of silly dishes makes you a saint in my book. Solidarity my sweet sister!
