My driveway
This has to be the 'in like a lion' for March..
One good thing to take note of on this snowy day, scared kitty surprised me with a kitchen visit. Her owner told me not to expect to see her at all. I would most likely be looking under beds for a glimpse of her. Well, this is what I have been seeing for three days.
Conversations have been one-sided, me with a guarded, calm voice and her with saucer eyes and a low growl. BUT...while dishing out the stinky goodness, she appeared behind me with a look that said, "Despite loathing you, you are my meal ticket so here I am."
Me...(in a calm, quiet voice) "Well, looky here. Your curiosity has finally got the best of you. I'm sure if you just sit there and watch you will see I am not an ax-murderer. I am your friendly, feline aficionado."
Her..."HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS"
Me..."That will be enough of that. You have abused me since Sunday so let's just get along now, ok?"
Her...*stare*
Me..."Did I mention how gorgeous you are?"
Her...*blink*
Me..."Okay then, here's your breakfast" I move one foot towards her dinner spot.
Her..."hiss", she stomps off.
Baby steps. I really do believe we are getting somewhere.
I'll be adding time to my visits today just with the snowbanks I'll have to climb over.
How we all long for Spring.
hugs, Deb
Hi Deb,
ReplyDeleteI sure do hope this is "in like a lion" too! Lots of snow in the forecast for today as well.
Be careful out there & have a great day!
All the Best,
Christine
Stay warm and safe. Your kitty charges are very lucky to have you.
ReplyDeleteThis post is so perfect...I have seen that behavior before and if kittie's could talk....this would be the exact conversation....my black Persian was very much like that with unfamiliar people....her tummy growling must have gotten the best of her....stay safe driving in all that snow....I remember it well!
ReplyDeleteGoodness...I don't know how you manage with all the snow. I remember living in Kansas many years ago. It was tough to keep the driveway clear. You are truly making "baby steps" to an understanding with "scared kittie".
ReplyDeleteIt must be quite odd to have a 'burglar' in the house who talks so sweetly, leaves dinner, then exits through the front door!

I wish I could send warm weather to you as easily as I send warm hugs for your patience and care of these beautiful felines. I just love stopping by because I always have a smile when I leave, XOXO
ReplyDeleteOoo, that snow looks scary. You are welcome to send it down here where we have drought conditions - umpty something sunny days in a row are very nice for us city-dwellers but are bad news for all the farmers.
ReplyDeleteThe little black tentative hissy one will likely come around to you, all ready for next time!
Thank you so very much for the smiles your posts bring to my face every day, Michelle downunder in Wellington, NZ, a.k.a. as Zebby Cat's human, XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX and ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ from Zebby
The little black cat is just scared. She's hissing to hide her fear. She's trying to convince you she's a big tough kitty so you won't hurt her. She knows there will be food left for her and she can eat in peace after you leave but she comes out because of you. I think she may be having a breakthrough with her cat sitter.
ReplyDeleteI think that the black beauty will soon fall in love with you Deb...a friend of mine is doing her best efforts to feed a little cat that appear in the trunk of a neighbour's car(in the spare wheel)he is feeding and playing a little now but we can´t touch him or her at all!
ReplyDeleteLike Susan commented I also wish I could send you calm and warm weather Deb! You really love your work to get out in such hostile conditions but kitties deserves the best cares in the world...yours!
As I write this, the windows behind me open out onto the Rideau Canal, and it's a world of white, snow smothering trees. Looks like your view!
ReplyDeleteThe kitty looks adorable. Suspicious, but adorable.
I love the expression on her face in the kitchen photo; sort of "gimme the food, don't talk to me, please leave" face, lol! What a beauty!
ReplyDeleteOh the snow, same thing here. I am starting to hear birds chittering in the mornings. That's a good sign, right?!!
You are so funny...love this! : )

ReplyDeleteWell shy kitty sure is beautiful! I love the color of her eyes... not that she would care what I think! I don't even have stinky goodness it offer her! I do think you are moving up the list of her fave people though!
