It is best that you do not use litter with chemicals added to keep down odour. Every time something is added to litter the cost goes up and the cat is subjected to something that is negatively going to affect its' health. The companies that produce the litter do not care about our cats as much as they care about the almighty dollar so use your head and do not be influenced by the funny cat on the box holding its' nose. Instead, buy the regular litter with baking soda added or add a teaspoon or two of baking soda every few days to absorb the odours.
This is much healthier for your cat and baking soda costs pennies.
If you are tired of seeing cat food cans in the fridge, open a few cans at a time and place into a well-sealed container.
That way, you can add a little pumpkin to the soft food to keep kitty regular by adding extra fibre.
Label and date the dish and it should stay fine for a week in your fridge.
And if your cat seems bored and is starting to scratch the furniture or hang from the curtain, it's time to dig out a box, fill it with tissue paper and sit it in the middle of the room. Problem solved.

ReplyDeleteReally great tips Deb! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGreat post. I have used baking soda for 30 years!
ReplyDeleteA lot of people don't know about the pumpkin tip and it is fabulous. Our Emma is 14 years old and it really helped her. And the tissue paper is so true, when I unpack something she is soooooooo happy.
ReplyDeleteI started using baking soda after reading one of your older posts and it really worked! Thank you Deb...
ReplyDeleteNow I will have to put in practise the tissue paper tip though it´s too late for the poor table leg!
What a beautiful pair of green eyes are looking at me!♥

What great tips for taking good care of your pets...and keeping them happy!
ReplyDeleteLove your tips! I'm going to try the one tonight with the tissue paper:-D
ReplyDeleteThere are some great tips here! I never thought of putting pumpkin in their food. I'd love to know what kind of litter you use, too!
ReplyDeleteOne thing I do for their entertainment is when the toilet tissue is gone I'll just toss the empty tube into the hallway and they love to roll it around for awhile.
I'm your newest follower. My furbaby family has grown from 1 to 4 inside and 1 outside. Two of the inside kitties are rescues and the other 2 came from the mama kitty who lives outside. I love them all, but it's been quite a challenge learning to live with this many in my house! I'll be reading to learn more great ideas. Thanks!
I'm coming from cozy little house and so pleased to discover (and follow - LE CHEMIN DU BONHEUR) your blog. I love cats too (I'm a cat painter and cats collector and I live in my cats' house). I use baking soda and never thougt or read anything about putting it in the litter. Great you made my day.
ReplyDeletexoxo from PARIS to you and cats
