Sierra soaked it up while I did some organizing. I always have one of the cats as company when I am anywhere in the house. They seem to seek me out for attention. It's nice to be wanted and nicer still to spend time with them individually. Sierra is such a sweetheart.
"Sierra, did you know that Spring is only 24 days away?"
"That IS grand!"
She loves to just sit and listen to me yap away as I confide in her my deepest secrets. She bats her eyes and meows softly and listens so intently with both ears forward. She is a wise cat; a no-nonsense gal. I believe she has taken the role of top cat now that our beautiful Cali has left us. I know she deserves that status and I hope she enjoys it. We always end our conversations with a hug and a kiss. She would not have it any other way.
When they are put away in the book-case I tend to forget all about them. Tea and books go so well together. It's the thing to do when you finally sit down to relax; make some tea and enjoy a book.
I'm quite busy right now with cat-sitting as people head to warmer climates. From now until March break the deals are on for flights and lodgings. I have loaded up the cat-bag with treats and toys and brushes. I have so many gorgeous cats to enjoy in the next few days. Some are regulars and a few I will enjoy getting to know.
I know my service is very appreciated in our area as I have had many people tell me how happy they are to have found someone who will come into their home and care for their cats while they travel. The cats are happier and more relaxed than they would be at a cat kennel and they can hire me to come in up to three times a day. Most clients ask for one or two visits but I have had many that require more because the cat is alone and on medication. I'm happy to provide the service that is tailored to the needs of the cat. It's hard to think of this as a 'job' as it is such a pleasure to visit and care for each of them but I know it is a service that is needed and the business is growing every month.I'll have lots of photos for you next week. Drop by to meet the little charmers.
In our local shelter today, sits a little female, orange-tabby who finds herself homeless at the age of 13.
Melody
She is good natured and healthy. She was picked up as a stray. If anyone in our area could give her a good home, please contact LAWS. http://www.lanarkanimals.ca/cats1.asp?page=3
Saturday update - Melody is now in a foster home until she is adopted. Please contact shelter if interested in adopting.
Stay warm.
hugs, Deb
I hope that this little senior lady finds a home. Someone must have been taking care of her for 13 years... I wish that I lived in your area as I would feel totally comfortable having someone like you taking care of my 3 furpeople. Mary A
ReplyDeleteHope the lovely lady finds a new home soon. Sierra is gorgeous, we had a cat like her when I was little. Enjoy meeting your new kitty clients, Steph
ReplyDeleteOh what a sweetheart. So sad she s alone at 13, it's just not fair. I hope someone takes her home and gives her lots of cuddles and love. Your photo of Sierra is fantastic. What a beautiful girl!!
ReplyDeleteLovely Sierra! Cassie sits and listens to me -- meowing on occasion. Cool! Such a sweet little lady. I hope someone will give the orange tabby a home. She certainly deserves it.
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to the homeless sr. lady. She looks lost and sad. I hope someone in your area will take her home and love on her, it's just what she needs.
ReplyDeleteSierra is a sweet looking lady herself.
Your 'job' sounds just wonderful and I'm sure cats and clients alike just love you for your tender loving care.
Have a lovely weekend ~ FlowerLady
An orange tabby girl! Is'nt she wonderful! I love senior cats beyond anything! Kitties are cute but give me a senior any day.
ReplyDeleteThis lovely girl has such sadness in her eyes. It breaks my heart. But she's s safe, warm and fed and we must thank God for that. I'm a quarter of a world away or I'd take her in a flash and love and pamper her like anything.
Melody will make someone a wonderful companion,I hope her furrever home won't be too long in coming.

I feel happy for you and you kittes that Spring is coming...In Argentina summer is ending and Fall is near and don´t like winter because it´s cold and rainy in here but it doesn´t snow... It did only once in 2007 since a 100 years ago.
ReplyDeleteSierra is a beautiful lady, one of mine resembles her his name is
Felipe. I agree with you that tea, cats and books makes a perfect company though in my country most of the people drink mate all the time a couple of tea is glorius.
Melody is a sweetheart I hope she finds a perfect family soon!!
You have the most wondeful job Deb and I admire you...when we are on holiday a friend of mine takes care of my cat & dog family but only for three or four days because I miss them so much!
Love that pic of Sierra in the sun! I hope Melody finds a home soon. Last night I saw our little black granary cat for the first time in ages, siting in my heated birdbath, drinking. :( We just got him a heated water bowl that we will hook up this weekend. I have been giving him water but of course it freezes fast.
ReplyDeleteToday I put down fresh food in the granary, then went to do barn chores for 20 minutes. By the time I got back, he had eaten all the food. I left him with a new bowl of kibble and a big rubber pan of water. I give him canned food and kibble twice a day.
I think I may end having to trap him to get him anywhere near me. We'll get him (her?) fixed and vaccinated and take it from there. Not sure how feral he is but he could be our barn cat if nothing else.
I sure hope this little sweetie finds a good home soon!

I hope Melody finds a home soon...
ReplyDeleteSierra is striking her majestic, noble pose. Looks good doing it!
Definitely believe that which you stated. Your favorite justification seemed to be on the internet
ReplyDeletethe easiest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I definitely get irked while people consider
worries that they plainly do not know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and also defined out the whole thing without
having side-effects , people can take a signal.
Will probably be back to get more. Thanks
