Charming clutter & a recipe.

I swear if I ever have an animal come on our property that needs tending to I'll just send Audrey out to stare it down.  That oughta do it. :)
She really is a cat of many faces.

I call this my 'distraction' feeder.
If I keep it filled with peanuts in the shell and seeds it keeps the squirrels busy and gives more time for the birds to feed at the other feeders without them interrupting.
And it's funny to watch the squirrel eating inside, out of the rain, acting like they are pretty special.

                                   Dishes

I found a cute addition for my country cottage cluttered china cupboard today. A teeny country cottage cupboard.
Of course, it had to have some blue and white added.
I know some grandittles
that will love to find it the next time they take a peek.
They can play with the wee dishes without any worry of breaking them.
:)
And, I could not pass this little beauty up, either.

My favorite, too.

Would you like a muffin recipe?
I'll bet there's a few frozen bananas in your freezer.

Best Banana Muffins
1/2 c butter
1 c sugar
2 eggs
3 med bananas mashed
1 3/4 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup crushed pecans (or walnuts, if preferred)
cinnamon and sugar for topping
(1/4 tsp cinnamon and 2 tsp of brown sugar)

Here we go...
Cream butter & sugar together
Beat in eggs
Add mashed bananas

In another bowl
stir flour with soda, powder, salt & nuts

Add to banana mixture

Place in muffin tins
Sprinkle a bit of cinnamon and sugar mix on top.
Bake at 350 deg. 25 min.

So delicious with tea, of course. ;-)
And butter, says the retired-guy.

It's getting chilly here again and a snow-storm is expected tomorrow.
I'm heading out to fill the feeders and wish them all luck.

"Stay safe, birdies."

hugs, Deb

  1. Oh that is such a cute mini cupboard and dishes . Oh these banana muffins sound delish just one thing bananas never last long enough here to be put in the freezer we gobble them up lol ! Yes they say the storm will miss us and travel along east of us all though it is getting cold again out tonight . Our squirrels would tip over that glass jar and break it they are such little tyrants . Thanks for sharing , have a good night and stay safe and cozy in the storm .

  2. Please tell Annie that the Rankin Family have long been favorites of mine also. I remember driving through their home town and seeing the mural depicting them painted on a barn wall.
I think I had a quilting calico very similar to the Staffordshire cup!

  9. I like that...country cottage cluttered china cupboard. :) and the teeny tiny country cottage cupboard is so cute! I love that picture of the doves. It almost looks like a wreath. Doves are beautiful birds, aren't they? I think you're right about Audrey's stare, but sweet Annie looks like she would not harm a flea.

  11. I like the idea of a distraction feeder for your squirrels. I know a few people who might use it in their own backyard. Is that a little bird house they go into?
Love your blue dishes! I have a few delft blue items...but no tea cups and saucers. Part Dutch =)
