In the air there's the feeling of Christmas...

I'm dropping in to wish everyone a happy week and fun preparing for Christmas.  It's moving along faster than I remember but then the weeks do fly, don't they.

I've been keeping our feeders full and adding suet to the cages. This helps them get through the cold nights that are now here. We have our winter birds arriving slowly. Our juncos are back and the downy woodpeckers are about every morning at the feeders. I find them quite amusing as they want you to know they are there by tapping on the tree bark. And our gorgeous chickadees are in abundance and they cheerfully greet me every morning by swooping by my head on the short walk to where they feast.

Things have slowed right down the last two weeks with the house so we are hoping to have workers back next week and of course, after the holidays.  I'll have some inside photos for you once I see a big change from my last ones. Did I mention you need more patience than this lady has for this kind of immense project. Ugh!

Annie and Audrey are helping move things along as best they can. Apparently, figuring where we want electrical sockets for the electrician takes one man and two cats to do it right.

Soon the need to watch birds takes over and we lose their interest.

Wrapping gifts is on the 'to do' list today and since I came home yesterday with two dozen fresh farm eggs from Lucy's farm I will be baking, too.

I hope everyone is enjoying the lead up to Christmas and remembering to take time out for yourself while you are at it.  Christmas movies are coming out now and I plan to watch a few of my favorites; just as soon as the gifts are wrapped and done up with pretty ribbons and bows. That is, if the cats let me...it's always a struggle. lol

Enjoy!

hugs, Deb

  3. It looks like Christmas at the mouse-house! I finished my wrapping this morning (I think). I told the girl at the post office that I thought I was finished mailing packages -- unless I got home, checked the list for the uptenth time, and forgot someone! Happy to say -- Done! But it was fun.

  7. I check every evening to see if there's a Just Cat's post. So it made my day to see this one! Great shot through the tree of Annie on the table. Cute tree too. And, yes indeed, building a new home is agonizingly slooow at times. Hang in there! It'll be worth the wait. Nebraska ><>

  9. Such a lovely post ... I like your looking through the Christmas tree photo, umm she says out loud, I must do that too! My fur girls are always supervising my activities especially when I scrapbook. Oh the little bells on the feeder is so festive. Christmas movies have been on our agenda also. Which is your favourite? I always start the season with the original black/white of Miracle on 34th Street & finish Christmas Eve with the 1951 A Christmas Carol with Alister Simms.

  10. So glad you have such good helpers in Annie and Audrey. I'm sure the house could not be finished without them. :) Enjoy your holiday season. It will be here and gone before we know it.

  11. My daughter and I have been watching Christmas movies nearly every evening - we recorded a bunch on the DVR and pick a new one every night to enjoy, it's been so wonderful!

  12. I'm not one for having things in transition. I like them done and completed. If I were in your position, I'd be impatient, too. A new home! Who wouldn't want to get that ready for living in?

  13. I need to figure out how to work my DVD player so I can watch my favorite Christmas movies! It's baking time here. Oodles of snow so it's a good thing to do. Wish your house had been finished but I think you'll holiday in the Mouse House in style this year. Big hugs!

  15. I'm rather envious of your little Christmas tree and the ever-changing arrangements in your special cupboard. Several generations of our cats discouraged me from decorating a tree.
Progress on a house whether a new building or a renovation is always slower than we could wish. I tell my self that delays foster more appreciation for each step finished.
Blessings on those dear girl cats!

  16. Cats and papers! I can never read because of Dumperoo wanting to lay in the middle of the open book...and Bickett is determined to eat the corners off every pretty magazine. I love your tree and the unusual ornaments...especially the moose looking through the limbs. Can't wait to see more of your new house. It really does take lots of patience.

  21. Merry Christmas dear Deb to you and your lovely family. . . . . .including the cats, birds, and of course Simon who's probably hidden away!
Know life has been extra busy with the house construction too - my own small reno projects over the past few months took a lot of my energy. . . . . and then preparing for Christmas took the rest! I'm so ready to relax after tonight's revelry!
Anyway dear, it's just about here now and I'm thinking of you and wishing you many beautiful moments over the holidays. Looking forward to catching up more in the new year.
Stay well, enjoy the snow (none here!) and have a blessed Christmas.
    Love, Mary x
