a proud sister-to-be

We keep a weekly date with someone very special.
It is breakfast out and then a bit of time at the local,  little book-store called Read's Book Shop.
Riley loves her bacon, eggs & home-fries so she keeps herself very busy filling her face just like nan & gramps.
Her favorite part of breakfast is the little slice of orange at the edge of the plate.
Aunt Allie came along too and Riley loves her aunt.
See....

She has something she wants you to know. I'll let her tell you herself.

So, this September we will have a grandson. :) That's what the ultra-sound tells us.

I'm just back from my last visit of the day with Puff. His owners will be home tonight and he will be a happy guy.

Cat-tip-for-the-day=^..^=water for kitty
There are many ways to encourage your cat to drink water. Just like us, cats need water everyday. Moist food is one way to get more fluid into your cat and also placing bowls of water strategically around the house will get their interest. I find in my home the cats drink more if I put water into an elevated dish (such as a tumbler or water glass). I have even used old parfait glasses and keep them filled with cool, fresh water. Our kitten, Audrey loves the parfait glasses and enjoys water several times a day. Our cat, Cali likes to drink from the bathroom tap mostly. Senior and Geriatric cats like Lily & Ed  tend to sleep the day away and need to be encouraged to drink enough water daily.
Since placing bowls and glasses of water here and there, I am assured now that they are getting enough. I never had much luck with water fountains for the cats but that is another idea to encourage kitty to drink. It is important for their health so try different ways to get kitty to have more interest in drinking fresh, clean water daily.

hugs, Deb

  1. Hi Deb: I envy you so much. Having some more little babies around. What a doll is Riley. Sweetest name with the little face to go with it. Your cats always look so contented. Maggie drinks a lot of water. She just always has. I don't think she even knows what milk is and as much as she tries to give big detours around ole Buddy, she will still drink out of his bowl in the laundry and hers, as well, in her little sunporch. Funny little things.

  2. She is such a sweetheart Deb! I envy your time with your sweet wee girl.
As you know I have a glass of water on my bedside table for Addy. I get quite the look if I forget to put it there.

  3. Riley is a sweetie =)
    Wonderful news for you!
    Congrats!
My brat cats have several water glasses throughout the apartment to tempt them. Oscar, though, likes the water tap best =)

  4. And I thought my Willow was the only one that drank from a glass, my overnight glass of water is always half gone in the morning.
Rupert likes the tap in the bathroom and sits and waits patiently for someone to come by and turn the tap on before he will jump up, then has to have the head stroked and then will drink.
Polly having been a stray prefers to drink from puddles outside.
The other two are more conventional and drink from the bowls.
    Your Grand daughter is lovely.

  5. That's exciting news for the whole family!! A wee brother.

Poppy has a big bowl of water that she enjoys lapping from. Someone from the cat blogosphere suggested keeping water sources away from the food, as cats in the wild don't eat near their water. I don't know how true that is though. Like your cats she loves a glass of water too.

  6. We have water bowls dotted around the house, though Jacob and Gwendoline prefer the tap.
I think Riley is going to enjoy being a big sister!

  7. What a little doll face, lucky grandma! And another on the way, what fun!
My cats just love their water, so I keep 3 dishes out at all times. One of the cats has a routine, each morning, she stands at her dish until I dispose of "yesterdays" water and pour in fresh, ONLY then will she drink.
