Getting out before the storm
Spring is in 8 days. It was a nice enough day yesterday to go for a long walk with my old dog who for the 2nd time this winter did not wear his plaid coat. It was still windy enough that I stayed snuggled up in a hoodie, winter coat and gloves as I am chilled to the bone if there is a cold wind. I can't wait to ditch the winter gear, though.I could barely look out the window this morning after hearing of a snow storm heading our way. This feels like an awfully long winter with no breaks whatsoever. I think it may be the end of April before we see a hint of grass and early Spring flowers show their face.
Joe has been allowed to roam the basement whenever the need arises and he loves it down there. In a 120 year old house like ours the basements are often just crawl-spaces. We are lucky to have enough room to walk around in ours and it provides us with plenty of storage space. It is all rock (and junk) and Joe has found a ledge that he loves to sit on when the need to be alone hits him. It's his get-away.
Rae-Rae had a grooming session yesterday and I was able to clean up a few wee knots that had developed over the last few weeks. She purred and rolled around while I combed her and only once gave me a quick look when it tugged a bit. I gave her some hairball gel right from the tube which she lapped up. She loved all the extra attention and slept away the afternoon.
Rae-Rae now watching the blizzard today.

Still waiting for Spring.
hugs, Deb
Bless your heart... and *to think* that I think it's cold here in Texas.
ReplyDeleteBrrrr , it sure looks cold in the last picture !
ReplyDeleteHere has the spring arrived with green grass and spring flowers :)
Well, you're close to my parts, so the view out your window is very much like the view out the windows behind me at present.
ReplyDeleteMy great-grandfather once visited my maternal grandparents here from the Netherlands one winter. In April there was a snowstorm, and he asked, "Does the winter ever end in this country?"
Getting tiring, isn't it William. Even the dog looks bored with it.
DeleteAnd Rae-Rae is such a beauty!
ReplyDeleteOh my...keep warm and cozy!!! Purrs & Hugs

You have the same black and white view I have.....it has truly been a long and bitter Winter. My Lucy cat loves watching the little critters come to the patio to eat the bread crumbs I throw out each day. :)

We had it too -- today is gloriously sunny (and cold as all get-out) but I didn't venture out yesterday. It's lovely. No arguments. But how I am longing for warmer temperatures!
