Take 2...

For some reason, my last post vanished on me. Weird.

Audrey fell from our stair cover to a stair-step below injuring her back leg and tail on the weekend. Normally she could have jumped the distance but her fall was unexpected and she went down hard. Her tail going limp really alarmed me.
It was off to the vet to see how bad the injury was and thankfully (Oh lordy, I was worried)  she just needs rest; no broken bones. Her tail is swollen and sore but there is no spinal damage.
The little twerp is not allowed to jump as she recovers, with the help of a good pain-killer, so I am lifting her when the need arises. Did I ever mention that she loves to jump....constantly. :(

We'll have to change the stair cover so this does not happen again.

I expect she will milk this for all it's worth. I hope I survive.

"Must go...I just heard her bell ring. "

hugs, Deb

  1. Poor Audrey! I wondered when the previous post wasn't showing. You'll just have to spoil her rotten to keep her happy.

    More so than usual.

  2. Oh, Deb, I feel your pain. I have a jumper too! Her newest trick is to waltz across our mantel before jumping clear of the hearth! Kimberly may not kill me but she definitely is turning me gray...

  7. Oh my, I almost cried when I read what Audrey did! Maybe this will be a lesson well learned and she'll settle down...ya think? How in the world does one keep a cat from jumping, I want to know. Give her a cuddle for me. Love from Nebr. ><>

  10. So glad that Audrey is okay. It must have been just terrifying to have her look injured.

Blessings and prayers for all as she recovers.

  11. how scary! So glad she's ok. I've feared someday one of my cats doing something like that, probably just a matter of time. I'm not sure I know what a stair cover is, can you post a picture of that?

  12. Aww. It's heartbreaking, to me, when an animal gets any kind of injury. There is no doubt you will go above and beyond with tending to her needs ... and she'll savor every minute of it. lol

  15. What a thing to have happen to dear sweet Audrey. Knowing her, she'll be back to normal soon, but not after she's gotten as much TLC (with treats, etc., & more than usual), as she can from the ordeal.

I'm so glad she wasn't hurt any worse than she was. Bless your hearts.

  16. Poor Audrey, I am sure you will care for her lovingly. One of our cats did something similar and recovered well, apart from at least a year later when she limped when I told her off. Sisters under the skin. Love Andie xxx

  19. Audrey, Audrey! No! Poor thing -- I've had more than my share of unexpected falls and yes, they're toughies. I think you'll have to keep a sharp eye out for your resident jumper -- isn't she the one who goes high, very high? I'm so sorry -- but also terribly relieved that there are no broken bones or longterm damage.

  20. Oh poor kitty girl. I bet Audrey was quite embarrassed about this although I doubt she will say so. Oh we do worry about our fur children.

  22. I saw your post title yesterday, but no post! I saw 'Audrey' in the title, so I was full of concern...rightly so. You will take good care of your girl; hope she heals up quickly. I recommend a kitty chiropractor when she is better; the one I had in for Chuck years ago made a HUGE difference in him after his fall; his hips were misaligned.

  25. Geez, what a scare that must have been, and you're probably not over it yet. I remember once when Tungsten made an easy jump and fell, I thought she'd hurt herself, then I thought it was symptomatic of some sort of disorientation. As it turned out, I was wrong on both counts, thank goodness. Cats just miss sometimes - but it doesn't stop them from scaring the crap out of us.

And yes, I suspect Audrey will take full advantage of this.

  29. I'm so sorry to hear about Audrey's injury. That must have been scary. I hope she feels better soon, though as soon as they feel better they're off and running again.
Since she nursed you through the flu a while back and waited on your every need (COUGH, COUGH!) I hope you will reciprocate and attend to her every whim.
    Get well soon, Audrey!

  34. How frightening and painful for our girl. She could have easily had something broken. She deserves to be babied to the max.

  37. Gee, I thought all cats landed on their feet but not in this case. Glad she's okay and that her tail will recover. I once ran over our cat Lucky's tail when reversing out of the drive and um, he ended up as a Manx! Not so lucky!
