Another easy recipe for gift-giving.

This was one of my mom's favorite loaf cakes. If you like cinnamon you will enjoy this.

                                Loaf Cake
1/4 c butter
1 c white sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1 c sour milk
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla

Mix one tsp cinnamon with 3 tbsps brown sugar.

Line cake pans with parchment paper or butter and flour.

Put 1/2 of cake ingredients in pan then layer the cinnamon mixture. Then 1/2 cake ingredients on top. (see photos)
I sprinkle a little bit of cinnamon on top.

Bake 1 hr. at 350 degrees.

This is a nice bread with or without a bit of butter. It can be enjoyed at breakfast instead of toast or with tea any ol' time of the day.

I love this loaf cake. It tastes much like a coffee cake and makes a nice Christmas gift for a friend..

Our funny little Charlie Brown tree.
Boy, it's cold out there.
But, we are in for some warmer weather for Christmas.

I've been trying to clean the mouse-house today
&
someone keeps getting in my way.
I told her to go down to the garage and nap in front of the warm, cozy pellet stove but she wants to help ?? me instead.
I told her I called Santa and told him that she was hell bent on making me work twice as long today.
And,
that he said he may not come to the mouse-house this year.

                                "OK, you're kiddin', right?"
 ;-)

"Happy first day of winter."
I'm glad I did this post up yesterday because today I am down with the flu. This is where nurse Annie will stay close for a day of cuddling. :)

Be well.

hugs, Deb

  2. Oh, feel better soon! It's a perfect little tree with lovely ornaments. Audrey, don't let her fool you; all cats are on Sant's Nice List! It's a law or something...

  3. Not the flu for Christmas. Blast. I hope it is of very short duration. Unfortunately, it seems to be prevalent. Something went through my work place and I got it, too, and I haven't been sick for a decade. It didn't seem to be a flu, but rather a half-hearted attempt at a combined flu and cold. In any case, may your illness be gone when you wake tomorrow.

  6. Oh no, feel better soon. I'm home with a cold but I think it's mild and I hope to bounce back soon. I love cinnamon so this bread would be a welcome gift! Hugs!

  7. Sorry to hear you are unwell. Sending healing thoughts. Thanks for sharing the cinnamon loaf recipe. Audrey will get a big surprise Christmas morning if there is nothing in her stocking! My fur girls had an in-home nail clipping on Saturday & have now been hissing & growling at one another - Santa is watching reminders does not seem to help...

  11. That looks good -- and pretty easy! I love cinnamon in just about everything.

Now, about that flu! Be gone! We can't have that a few days before Christmas. Take good care, lots of fluids, maybe a little of that good cinnamon loaf! And do get well soon.

  17. Oh, no, not the flu! Hoping it is only a 24 hour virus or something that you recover from very quickly. This is such a wonderful time of the year and I hope you recover in time to enjoy all the activities. Thank you for the recipe. It sounds wonderful and I will be trying my luck with it. Prayers for a quick recovery.

  20. Sadly, most of your photos aren't showing up for me--will come back later.
I Hope the flu has departed. Even with solicitous cats to hover round, its disheartening to be ill, especially at a busy holiday season.
