Simple & fast

It felt like summer today.  I wonder if we broke a record for the temperature in April in Ontario. We may have.
After our walk, I raided the fridge for a supper idea.

Can't think of what to make for dinner? I made a yummy rice dish tonight just from what was in the fridge. No recipe needed...just wing it.  While the rice is cooking in the rice-cooker, I just chop everything up and saute the onion and fresh garlic in olive oil (2 tsp) in a pan. I add 1/2 tsp. of basil and tyme and pepper. Then add all the other chopped vegetables. Whatever is in the fridge. I used carrot, green beans, pepper, mushroom & zucchini.   Right before serving I throw chick peas in just to heat them up and a bit of lemon juice.  Delish! With the chick peas this is a complete meal. Just add some wholesome bread.

Kane ate chick peas with his dinner for the first time tonight. I cook for this scalliwag and he has eaten around the chick peas in the past but tonight....Gone! "Good boy, Kane." Sierra ate one too after batting it around the kitchen first.  I now add a smashed clove of fresh garlic with Kanes' dinner and he is eating it up. He has some ear problems and I am tired of trying different ointments, medication, drops and so on. Now I am on the natural route and my gut feeling is that his diet will make the difference. I want this gone. Fingers crossed!

Remember Hugo?

I love our grand-kitty Hugo. He's the most gentle, care-free, sloth-like cat I have ever known.  He is on the 'tubby' side of life but will lose some when he is out and about in the summer. He is a good boy and stays on his property.

  2. That sounds like my kind of dinner... just wing it with whatever we have. Rice and veggies is always a favorite here.

  6. Hey, Kane ate some chick peas with his dinner!! I include a few, cooked chick peas in Gracie's meals pretty often. Before serving, I smash them up really well (same as when I serve her cooked green peas) and mix them in with her other foods. Love your beautiful photos.
