Our Lily 1996 - 2015

My Lily-bug
waiting for her evening treat.

Well, as you now know, we lost her.
It happened so fast. She had been quite fragile for a few days, showed some improvement and then went into a deep decline.
And now she's gone.

Although she had been diagnosed with pancreatitis only months ago, it was expected that she had a tumour in her abdomen. I had to let her go.
Our vet was wonderful and made her passing so peaceful.
I thank God for her.

Lily started life as a neglected barn kitten and was rescued by an elderly friend of mine. Six years later, when my friend's life took a bad turn, I adopted this wonderful cat who at that time was named Sarah. Because I already had a 'Sierra' in the home I told my friend I would want to change Sarah's name to Lily. She laughed and said, "Not a worry, I just call her 'bug' anyway."
So, Lily-bug it was.

Someone else loved her very much, too.

and she is now with her beloved Ed

but I'm going to miss her so much.

Rest in peace, sweetheart.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful comments. I feel that you all got to know her a little through me and could see what a special cat she was. I have another very wonderful cat, Annie, who will miss Lily so very much. It is time to give my attention to Lily's nurse-maid (as we called her) as she, too, grieves for her friend.
Thank you again for all your sweet comments.

Hugs, Deb

  10. There is nothing so beautiful as the love of a cat. Each one is a special gift. Lily was one of the best, a darling gentle soul who quietly made your lives a little brighter by her presence.
Losing our kitties is so hard, but the joy they bring to our lives so outweighs the pain at the end. Remember the joy.
You and dear little Annie will need to comfort each other.

  11. Oh, Deb, our hearts are breaking. The only comfort in this exceptional loss is that Lily's life force Is now with her darling Ed across all space and time. We'll miss her terribly. We were hoping she'd make it to the mew house. I don't know why,but somehowt that seemed important.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and with dear Annie. Our Special candle has already been lit for Lily.
    On it's glass it says:

    Grieve not
nor think of me with tears
    But laugh
and talk to me as if I were beside you
    I loved you so......
    'Twas heaven here with you

  19. Your *Lily-bug* reminds me so much of our Betsy. We lost her years ago at 19, but she was all white also...little longer haired than Lily, but the sweetest cat. Yes, you will miss her and so will her buddies... but I agree that now she is with Ed. Love the pictures...

There is no way we are ever ready to let go and no matter the years it is never enough. I am in some small way comforted to know she and Ed are curled up again side by side waiting, waiting for you one day. I am so sorry. I know the difficulty of your loss. Sending purrs and prayers.

  34. Again thinking back over the last two years after Lily lost her Mr. Ed and then had her heart condition, pancreatitis and now a tumor, I am so glad she was there with you. You blessed her with such a good life of care and family. And you shared love together. Nothing in all the world is better.

Again, too, I send many kitty-loves to Annie. Sweet little nurse maid who also blessed Lily.

    Love to all of you,
    Lily

  41. I know that Ed's new companion in the kitty beyond is your deepest loss. Lily-Bug was so beautiful and I remember your sharing their love story long ago. Sometimes the most fortunate opportunities bring the greatest joy. I suspect "Sarah" never had it so good as the day she became Lily and a part of your family. Once again I send huge hugs to you and pets and ear scratches to all your gang, but especially Annie. Yes, animals grieve. She will need your care -- and you, hers.

  42. So sorry about your beautiful Lily. Looks like she had the best life a kitty could want. Lots of love and purrs to you.
