Calming kitty

A good way to bond with a cat is to read out loud. Cats love the sound of your voice and will want to sit near and snuggle.
I use this technique with shy cats.
Many of my kitty clients are a little shy at first so I often bring a book along and read with the cat near-by.
Most times my kitty-client will fall asleep after a page or two.

I've had a busy weekend cat-sitting. I'm caring for 'my regulars' I call them. No new kitties to get to know.
Here are a few of their charming faces.

Shy but lovable Quincy who thinks the camera is evil.

and his side-kick Flash

Parker

 gorgeous Willow
and senior kitty
Smudge
She has such a comical expression and it never, ever changes.

Busy again this week.
Stay tuned for more 'lovelies'.
hugs, Deb

  1. All so very pretty ! Nice photos . Our cat Harley couldn't care one way or another about much at all she has always kept to herself but when she hears the tea tin it makes her talk it is funny and she tells me stories as I am making tea . Thanks for sharing . Have a good day !

  4. They are a lovely group of kitties.

The cat on the lap reminds me of that saying about the best cure for depression being the purr of a cat.

  5. Hmmm. Maybe I can read Lizzie my newest! That might keep her quiet -- unless she talks all the way through it!

  7. Quincy knows the camera will steal his soul. I never thought of reading to a cat but I am always yapping away at them. Come to think of it my discourse does often put them to sleep!

  9. I read to my cat when we first got him because he was so scared, he wouldn't let me pet him. I'd just go into the room and sit and read out loud. He eventually came around and now we are great pals. I always enjoy seeing the wonderful pictures of the many cats you get to meet!

  11. Little Parker is simply irresistible!
Look at those eyes! And that expression. Squeeeee! Too precious! It's wonderful to see dear
    Smudge again. A special favourite
    here, to be sure.
    I don't think anyone takes a more
beautiful cat portrait than you. The
    photos themselves are exquisite and
you always manage to capture each
    cat's uique personality. Perfection!

  13. Such cute little faces.
I've practiced conjugating Spanish verbs in front of them before-Lucy and Oscar seem a bit more interested than Winston. Hmmm...though I tend to pace as I practice, perhaps I should try and relax on the chair first.!

  14. I'm a big fan of the "The Cat Who..." books, too. I tried reading to Mabel once but she didn't seem impressed. I'll have to try it again when she's already relaxed and sitting near me.
She's the only cat I know who takes sun puddles for granted no matter how much I tell her that more rain is coming :)
Thank you for your lovely kitty posts!
