Theirs was a love story.

I will never find a better photo for Valentine's Day than this one of Mr. Ed and Lily taken last year.

                                    My heart-shaped cats
Theirs was a real love story. In all my years of living with cats I had never witnessed a bond like theirs.  It was hard to imagine such a love between two cats. We lost Ed to kidney-failure last December. He is missed every day by his family and dear little Lily.  Life is very different for her now. We do our best to keep her content with extra attention and love, as we truly do understand her loss, but there is a sadness about her that only time will heal. Our Annie has become her closest companion. I knew I could count on her.

I wish you all a beautiful Valentine's Day.

hugs, Deb

  2. Such a sweet picture.

They're proof that cats have feelings.

Annie's actions are proof that cats are capable of empathy.

  16. This really is the perfect Valentine's Day photo. It is hard on us when we lose an animal friend, but it is also hard on the other animals as well. You have learned this with Lily and I have seen it also with my Emma when we lost Sylvester last year. It just takes time, no matter if you are human or animal.

  21. Losing Ed was compounded for you. His passing broke two hearts - yours and Lily's. I think that makes it harder to bear. Thank goodness Annie is there to help fill the void. The picture is a beautiful memento of their loving relationship.

  22. Their's was a very special relationship for cats or humans. What a wonderful love they shared.
Although Ed will never be replaced,
we find comfort in knowing Peach is helping Lily through her grief. There
is something very special aboutPeach. You can see it in her
    eyes.
Ed has permanent place in all of our
hearts. We all loved that little man
    like crazy.
We hope all of your kitties have a happy Valentine's Day and know all
of our love is with them today and
    always.
    Kisses and hugs
