Goin' bananas

I groomed the cats,  and was abused by Audrey,  as she only takes a small amount of very gentle combing before she begins to bite. She bites, I react with a loud "Ow" and her ears go back and eyes look away. She knows she is not to bite but it's how she reacts to something she is not sure of . She is a very timid cat in many ways; loud noises send her running for cover. If a stranger picks her up she immediately looks for me. She is very hurt when her mother (Annie) growls at her.  She was very silly in her box last night so I took advantage of it with my camera. She actually gets mad at me if I take too many photos.

She loves to chew on her mom.

It has been raining and the walk last night was miserable. Kane wore his coat and I dawned a hood, scarf and gloves. Still it was miserable. This morning it has calmed but now we are being warned that the storm should hit later today or tomorrow. What do you believe?
All I know is it's a great day to make...
                                  Banana Bread Cookies
Need I say more?
1/2 cup of white sugar
1/2 cup of brown sugar
1 cup of butter softened
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups of all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ground cinnamon
3 ripe bananas mashed
2 cups of rolled oats
1 cup of chocolate chips
1 cup of walnuts
Preheat oven to 375.

Cream together the butter and sugars. Is there anything better than butter...NO!
Beat in the eggs and vanilla. Add the flour, baking soda and cinnamon to the creamed mixture and mix well. Mix in the bananas, oats, walnuts and chocolate chips. Drop by rounded spoonfuls on to parchment lined cookie sheets. Bake 10 to 12 minutes. Can there be anything easier than this?

I wish I could remember where I picked up this recipe but I thank you whoever it was. These are amazing and go wonderful with tea (of course).

I think I should package some of these up and take them over to someone very special who loves her new little brother and cookies.
Bradley is doing great and almost 12 pounds now. They are the cutest pair.  Riley is very excited about Halloween and we are excited to see her in costume.

Briony asked where I keep all my dishes when they are not on display. I don't have that many that I have to rent a storage room but I do have a buffet, a duncan phyfe display case, an IKEA  kitchen cabinet and a china cabinet. That seems to work for me. I don't leave anything out just in case Audrey gets mad and starts throwing things.

hugs, Deb

  2. Audrey is such a spoiled and lucky little lion. Mina bites, too. She runs and jumps into the middle of my lap - no matter what/who else might be in my lap. Purrs and I pet and then, suddenly, her ears go back and if I'm not careful ... she will bite. Watch those ears!!! Loved the photo of Riley and Bradley.

  4. I usually groom my crew with two combs, one to groom and one to bite! They bite the comb...not me.

  5. Thank you, Deb for a wonderful recipe for bananas; these look scrumptious and on a rainy day I can imagine how comforting they are with tea.
When Bailey was diagnosed with arthritis and normal combing through his back had him biting at my hand, I started using "combing gloves" which he loved. Have you heard of them? XOXO

  7. Lovely photos ! It has been raining here since Friday , Miggy and I are going crazy as we love the outdoors ! Our 4 year old Harley kitty who was once a stray kitten loves to be brushed , she raises her butt , purrs and rubs all over us whilst we are brushing her , good thing cause she has a full set of claws and only has ever used them on her scratch post ! Oh those Banana cookies look YUMMY. The would go wonderfully with a cup of tea on the rotten rainy days we have been having since Friday ! Flood warnings in affect for Southwestern Ontario ! Have a good day !

  10. Sweet Audrey, she is like Miss Pops and doesn't like being picked up, although Miss Pops is not brave enough to get that close to a stranger. I am happy though, as it means she is safe outside, as she runs away if anyone comes close to her. I do wish she was a bit more socialised, but you can't really change them once they get older.

  11. Sweet photo of Riley and her baby brother.
Audrey is so sensitive and beautiful. I'm sorry she bites you.
My Winston kitty used to do that, too. He is a bit better now that he is older.
Stay warm and dry. Eat those cookies with a cup of tea =)

  13. Audrey looks so beautiful and soft I would just want to scoop her up and kiss her if I were around her. But I'm thinking she would not be too happy about that! What an adorable picture of your grandchildren!

  16. Our little girl lion is certainly photogenic! But from the look on her delightful face, she knows it! I wonder why she tends to be timid about things. She has never known anything but love and the security of a home and plentiful food since she was born.
    Adorable photo of the grands.
    The impending storm looks awful.

  17. As you know, I have Audrey's evil twin. She's learned to pull back just before her teeth meet skin and looks away from the temptation. Anyone else picking her up appals her and she thinks children are evil, short people that should be chased around the house until they scream! ~ Maureen
