A peak at Riley & Follow that dog.

Here is our little Riley contemplating life so far.

"Look at my toes, Nan"

She looks like her nose is itchy in this picture. My son is the proudest dad on the planet.
Of course, Ozzie their cat has to get in on the action. I have a feeling this picture was staged. :)

He's Hot, Hairy & Hell-bent to lead the way.

It is still very hot here and while the sun is up it is too hot to walk my hairy-molly dog. We wait 'til later in the day to go for a short stroll.

DID YOU KNOW that cats sleep for 13-18 hours per day. Newborn kittens spend most of their time sleeping. It is nature's way of keeping them in their nest, rather than wandering away into the path of predators. Our senior cats sleep closer to 18 hours a day, especially in this heat. If they are on the deck I leave a large bowl of cold water for them and i actually put sunscreen on Lily's nose and ears because she is a white cat with very sensitive skin. Are you laughing at me?...I think I hear you laughing.=^..^=x5
On our walks I see countless cats I haven't met yet. I must get these flyers out tomorrow so the local cats can get the BEST care while their owners travel. "See you soon, kitties."

  2. White kitties in the sun are no laughing matter.
When we lived at the beach in California, we adopted a wonderful kitty boy who had had both ears removed due to skin cancer. We later had to have a bit of his nose leather removed. The oncologist told us that even sun coming through ourskylight was a problem. We'd follow him about the house putting paper tents over his head. He was such a sun lover!

  3. Wee Riley is growing fast ~ so cute!!

That's a good idea about sunscreen on kitty's nose ~ makes sense! My kitty Banjo only gets outside about twice a year (on a harness and leash) so no fear of sunburn here!! :) I think he sleeps pretty close to 16 hours ~ sigh ~ life of a cat! :)

    Have a Happy Day Deb!

  6. Lovely pics once again! I love the ones with your beautiful dog Kane. My dog has a lot of pink skin on her nose so she has to be careful of the sun as well.

    Have a great day, Bonnie

  8. It's so nice to meet you. It has been stinking hot here. (So hot we all stink) My cat is 16 yrs. old. We know she is on her way out but, the vet says she is doing pretty darn good. I have to keep her on antibiotics a lot. Her teeth (what's left of them) are going rotten and giving her Sinus problems. The vet said pulling them and having to put her out would not be good for her. She probably wouldn't make it through the whole thing. She's a great cat. I have noticed she sleeps a ton. Well I will be following you too.

  9. Riley is very cute! Ozzie is too and that water looks like a fun way to cool off! Hope you get to meet more of the local kitties and get to take care of them while their staff go on trips!
