A is for Apple

MMMMMMMM.......I hope you enjoy this. That's my helper, Sierra.

We grow big apples here. ;)
This cake takes a dozen at least
Do you see the biscuit barrel in the background? I have 3 now so I guess I am collecting them. This one is my favorite.

   Deep Dish Apple Cake
2 eggs
1 1/4 white sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 c oil
6 Tbsp orange juice
1 c flour
1 tsp baking powder
salt
12 apples sliced (I use Mac's)
1/2 tsp cinnamon

In pan sprinkle apples in bottom with 1/4c cinnamon & sugar. In a bowl beat eggs, 1 c sugar & vanilla.  Add oil, orange juice alternately with dry ingredients.
Beat until smooth. Spoon batter all over apples.
Bake at 350 for 1 hour.
This cake is delicious served with ice cream or  whipped cream.
If you are having a large group you can double this but only add another 1/4 cup of oil.

Look how simple it is and you end up with this...
It is raining now and the snow is slowly melting.  Today I followed snow removal trucks all over town while driving from place to place either visiting cats or picking up keys for the coming weekend.  I parked to go into a clients' home and the snow-removal guy comes over and boots me out of the spot. I was in his way, apparently. Wish I had some of this cake on me at the time 'cause I could have bribed him.
It is so dull and dark out today. I'm going out to buy some flowers. Right after I eat more cake.

Oh, and here is someone else looking for cake. If I'm not mistaken, she has never eaten cake so maybe this one should be the introduction.
                                                 "Hi Nan,.........got cake?"

Hugs, Deb

  3. Yum!! That cake looks delicious. I'm jealous that you have Macintosh apples. I live in the apple state (washington) and all we have is bland boring apples (no Macs, Empire, Cortland...) Any apple dish here is doomed to taste like bland apples, very sad.

  5. Cake and Riley both look yummy haha! When my tummy quits this calypso dance, I will make that cake as anything apple is my fave! Those are some beautiful macs and my favorite memory is picking them at the orchard with my family every fall. Bet you will have a new cake lover in the family with that one :D!
