We all need sun

You are my sunshine

My only sunshine
You make me happy
When skies are grey
You'll never know, dear
How much I love you
Please, don't take
My sunshine
away.

At 17 years of age Lily would be 84 (human years)
At 24 years of age Mr. Ed would be over 96 (human years)

It's obvious that Lily goes for the 'older guy' :)

I'm longing for the hot days of summer with long walks & sandals, gardens & picnics and cold beer (not for me, thanks) iced-tea and fresh picked fruit.

Here is my favorite picture of our dog, Kane enjoying a sunny day. All four off the ground.  :)
Is that a happy dog?  You betcha.
Another one of my sun-worshipers. This face speaks volumes.

Stay warm. It's reasonably cold and dark and slushy here. It's been a really wet winter so far. Blah!

  2. Oh how I adore Lily & Mr. Ed. And Sierra, & Audrey & well, you get the picture. Lovely sunshine indeed.

We had over 80 this weekend & all the kitties were flat out in the grass (me too, but I was shaded). Some were on the blanket and loving the partial sun while the rest were 'hiding' in the long grass. It's days like that with all 6 of them outside enjoying the weather and their 'cat-ness' that are so special.

  4. Love all these pictures! Great action shot of your dog!!! That's so wonderful your cats are having such long lives--great job keeping them healthy. I think we might get some sun today--at least the temperatures should be in the 50s which is really good for winter in Cleveland!

  9. That brought a tear to my eye and a lump to my throat. I used to sing that song to my beloved Byron..she died at age 20...whenever I hear that song I remember her.

  11. We should all be so lucky as to have the life and share the love of Ed and Lily.
I think about the lovely white cat Lumina who, at 12 years, finds herself with limited prospects for a new home. Wish she could join us.

  12. What I want to know is how it is that animals always know exactly where the best sunny spots will be ! My lot seem to know that the clouds will clear almost before they do and appear as if by magic from the four corners of the house to soak up the sun!

  16. Hey, you cat-sit my old cats (well my mom's(Susan) cats - not that they liked me much) Just wondering how far out of C.P you go? I'm getting married at the end of this year and need to figure out what I'm doing with my kitties during our honeymoon. We'll be in Barrhaven. Please let me know. Thanks. I really enjoy your blog and seeing pics of Lucky occasionally. I also really appreciated the post you did after Guiness passed away - he was my baby and I love him so much :)

  17. Such gorgeous animals! All of them!
My cats sure love to lay in the warm sunshine too,
but they are indoor cats. They always seem to find it in the house though. Too cute.
Thanks for coming back and sharing with the link party!

  19. Love your blog and all the pictures. I adore Lily (and all the others too). She reminds me of my cat, Silky, who we found as a stray in our backyard. And we are so pleased that he picked our yard and us as his new people. Every time I need a pick me up I visit your blog. I'm always guaranteed to come away in a better mood and with a smile. I sure hope Lumina finds a wonderful home soon.

  20. Oh gosh, I have just checked out some of your pictures and previous posts and I'm most definitely your newest follower! What a great job you have. Your furry family is adorable. Love the one where they are both sleeping in the same bed. Occasionally ours do that too and it warms my heart. Your love for the animals is evident from your pictures. You walk the talk :)
