White Wednesday

I wish I was the old lady who lived in a shoe. A really BIG shoe. I'd have so many rescued cats, I wouldn't know what to do.
But in reality, I live in a 3 bedroom house and my home is full. We have 1 dog and 6 cats living here presently and that's all I can do.

I want to feature this little cat by the name of Lumina that sits at our local animal shelter. She came into the shelter the same day that Annie and her kittens were brought in. She was part of the seizure of many animals from a home where the owners left behind 28 cats, 5 pregnant, more nursing their kittens & kittens of all ages and 4 dogs. There was a foreclosure on their house so they just up and left.

When I heard about this I went to the shelter to see if I could help by fostering a mother and kittens. That's when Annie came home with me along with her 3  2day old  kittens. Lumina is 12 years old and is still sitting at the shelter. I saw her the day I was there picking up Annie. I talked to her and I petted her head and I wished her all the luck in the world. I told her she was beautiful, so very beautiful, and someone else will think so, too. I told her to be patient and someone will find her.
Well, it has not come to be as she sits there waiting for almost 4 months now.

So, this being White Wednesday I thought I would show her beautiful face and perhaps someone will fall in love with her in our area.
She is at the Lanark Animal Shelter in Smiths Falls, Ontario. http://www.lanarkanimals.ca/cats1.asp?page=6

"Good luck, Lumina. I hope you soon find your new home."

  1. She's beautiful. I pray someone goes to the shelter and falls in love with her.

It's un-thinkable that people can discard an animal like an old shoe....breaks my heart for the animals.

  2. I hope Lumunia finds a new home soon! She looks just like a cat I had as a young adult named Marshmellow. It is so good of you to show her picture. It is heartwarming to see people who care.

  3. It is so heart breaking to see animals staying in small cages for months at a time, going unadopted. Sending lots of love and good thoughts that this sweet girl finds a loving home soon.

If I was rich, I would build a great big 'cat barn' and fill it with unadoptable kitties. And I would hire someone to clean the kitty litter every day.... haha...

Sending you hugs Deb for all the good work you do!

  4. There has got to be someone who loves elderly kitties the way we do! There just has to!
When you visit her again, please cuddle her and tell her she is loved and that she is in our prayers.

  6. She's beautiful, Deb!! I hope finds her forever soon. And guess what? I have a kitten in my bathroom. I am going to do a blog post about it later but thought you'd like to know we caught her! My wonderful cleaning lady Rosemary helped me. I couldn't have done it without her. We think kitten is about 4 - 5 weeks old. I will get her to the vet tomorrow but for now she's cozy in our downstairs bathroom. If you have any feeding or other advice, let me know.
