My home has been referred to as a 'Feline Retirement Home' by some cat-lovin' friends. I just added up the total age of my cats in human years and it is 488 years. Astonished! You bet your grey whiskers.

You would think since the kids have all flown the coop, the house would be quiet and peaceful in the morning...not so. The first sound that jolts me out of a deep sleep is the *yeowling* of my Siamese, Ginny who is now standing on my neck and staring into my face. After stumbling to the stairs and heading to the kitchen I am greeted with an operatic concert of "meows" & "chirps" and some Gawd-awful noise coming from Mr. Ed. I have trained myself to rise above it until that beloved first cup of coffee is warming my hands and promising to improve the moment. Then, it is on to the food-fest. And when the tummy's are full and the paws and faces are gleaming, it is off again to bed. Me..I'll most-likely vacuum, they'll love that ...ha!

A Cat's Tail can tell you something of a cat's mood. A tail held high shows happiness. A twitching tail is a warning sign. A tail tucked close to the body shows insecurity or fear. When a cat winds it's tail around something or someone, that is a sign of affection. A cat's tail is used primarily to maintain balance. When a cat slaps it's tail against the ground........LOOK OUT!

A Healthier Treat.

Excitement was abound at the home-front when I arrived with a new treat called Pure Bites (freeze-dried chicken breast). There is one ingredient only, Chicken Breast. It is high in protein and only 1 calorie per treat. (I must find a treat for me that has 1 calorie per serving) In the past I always purchased the Temptations. My cats would line up and stand straight and fold their paws in anticipation of their tasty treat but they were not the healthiest treat. Too many ingredients, calories, chemicals, perservatives..blah..blah...blah. Today's purchase makes me feel like a more responsible, caring and health-conscious cat momma. Oh, just noticed the dog likes them too.

Your healthy cat can vomit fur-balls or pass them through their stool. As long as their digestive tracts are in good order, they will be fine. Now, an impacted fur-ball within the intestines can lead to an emergency situation. If a cat has diarrhea followed by constipation and then stops producing stool altogether, you have a situation that should have you heading to your vet immediately. Including vitamins A & E in your cat's food can aid digestive lubrication. The number 1 aid in fur-ball build-up is daily brushing. I cannot say enough about the benefits of a daily grooming session. Also, if your cat takes to it, cat-grass will assist in ridding fur-balls.
