All mine.

Cats love their people but they also love their 'stuff'.
Like Tigger, for instance. He loves his scratching post and stakes claim to it.

While his side-kick, Belle, loves her scratching post and has personalized it to the best of her ability.

Would they miss their scratching posts if suddenly they became unavailable?

Oh yes, they think. That would be a CATastrophe.

These are two of my gorgeous charges this weekend. Lots more coming.

So long, August

There's no hiding from it...
(look closely)
Fall is comin'
Sierra doesn't mind. She found it rather hot sitting on the porch this summer anyway.
And now, with constant companionship, she will sit and wait for the mailman and enjoy the Autumn breeze.
It's time to slow down and say 'so long' to August.  Although our August was very wet, we still had many beautiful, warm days and it will be hard to see it go. I took a walk to show you some of the signs of the fast approaching Fall in our little town.

Just me and the camera; no dog. Kane, at 14, is much too slow now on his walks and when we do walk together, it is all about him. He still enjoys his sniffing and rootin' around and I am so thankful for that.

I put together a big casserole of macaroni and cheese for dinner tonight. I was able to use up some of the beautiful tomatoes that my clients have been kindly leaving me at their homes when I arrive to care for their kitties.  I was very happy to accept their generous offer since my sad little plant gave me only 2 tomatoes this year.

I have a busy weekend of cat-sitting as many families are travelling on the last weekend of summer.
Next week, drop by for a look-see at all the gorgeous cats in my care.

Happy weekend!

This week's feline fabulousness

left to right...
Ebony, Jenny, Molly & Bud
Pip, Mooty, Emmi & Di

Tootsie, Penny & Zoie.

That was my feline fabulousness of a week. Now this cat-sitter needs a quiet evening & a good movie.

Tomorrow begins the Labour Day long-weekend. I'll be very busy and can't wait to show you my charming charges.

Have a fun weekend, everyone.

Ebony & Peach

Today I have five houses to visit on my route. That will be a total of eight cats to provide 'tender-lovin' cat care' for.  I will say "so-long" this morning, also, to the beautiful Ebony. She is a gorgeous, 16 year old black beauty and I have been caring for her off and on for 5 years now.
This is her bed. :)

Of course it has a pink blanket.
She's all lady and rather pampered, you know.

It's also a day to do some grooming at the home-front. Someone needs a brushing and a nail-clipping, too. That was quite evident last night when she landed on my lap and I still have the pin-hole marks in my leg to prove it.
"Sorry, Peach."

"You know who I'm talking about."

Sun-flower gazing.

''Oh, you're just spoiling me Pip with all these window poses. Trying to charm the cat-sitter, are you?''

'' I do think you are as beautiful as a sunflower.''

"What are you looking at Pip?"

"Oh, I see someone else is intrigued with the flowers."

"So, am I right in thinking you love your cat-sitter, Pip, but her dog you can do without?"

"Oh, okay then."

Pip and Mooty belong to a friend and client who loves dogs and had offered her lovely acreage for my dog, Kane to have a run-about.
Run-about might be stretching's more like a stroll at 14 years of age.

I said "So long for now" to Pip and Mooty today. What darling cats they were to take care of.
Mooty would lead me (with those soulful eyes) into the sitting room and wait on the couch for me to groom her.

Pip just wanted to play.
I'm going to miss them.

'Cuteness' alert.

Guess who this is?
You're right. It's Rae-Rae at 7 weeks old. This is the day we brought her home to my daughter.
Rae-Rae (then nameless) had been living under a porch with her siblings and momma and a kind lady was frantically trying to find them all homes.
Allie wanted a kitten so a kitten she got.

I'm pretty sure I picked the cutest of the lot.

At 7 years of age, she's enjoying the sun today, too.

Rae-Rae and Jo have been staying with us for the last few months.
They fit in ok, although Sierra and Audrey could well do without them.
But, all in all, they are doing fine..

Rae-Rae mostly keeps to herself upstairs and does her walk-about downstairs in the evening when everyone is sitting around after dinner.
I find that very amusing and laugh at her as she struts around, tail up high and a smug look across her perky face.
She enjoys a little brushing in the evening (only a few minutes will be tolerated) and rewards me with her huge purr.
It really is a pleasure to have her around.

Thanks so much for all your fun comments about my favorite tea-pot's demise.
I do have the lid and it is still intact. The tea-pot is too beautiful to pitch and far too much work went into it's creation.
Since most of you thought it would make a beautiful planter, you may see it again someday. :)

I have been really busy cat-sitting the last few days and
will show them off soon.

Hugs, Deb

So long, gorgeous.

Well, darn it, I broke my favorite & most gorgeous tea-pot today.
And, it was full of hot tea at the time of it's expiry. Now that's just a big waste. Well, it was my own fault. I failed to check to see if the little piece that holds the handle on was in-tact and where it should be. It wasn't. It had slipped off and the pot slid out of the handle and hit the counter.

So, the moral of the story is...You attention to what you are doing and stop breaking your stuff. Now, I'll be on the hunt for another 'favorite' tea-pot but it won't have the same type of handle. I'm too clumsy.

But to lighten my mood, we have been getting beautiful weather with lots of sunshine lately. Around here, it is very much appreciated.

warming her floof.

Did you know that Fall is only 27 days away?
Sept. 23 is the first day of Autumn.
I don't mind at all. though. I love the Fall with it's colours, cool breezes and cozy sweaters.
If only it would last I wished for my tea-pot.

Buddy & Jenny

The morning starts early with my kitty-clients, Molly, Buddy, Jenny and Tink.
After lapping up the stinky goodness, Bud and Jenny were happy to give me some cute photos for you. Once their tummies are full, they are very co-operative.

Jenny likes to watch me prepare their breakfast, which takes much longer than it should because I keep looking over at her with admiration. Isn't she adorable?

It was fun caring for you lovely cats. Hope to see you again soon.

Thank you to all my dish-lovin' friends who took a moment to share how they like to display their tea and coffee cups on a shelf.
Most of you like 'right side up' which suits me just fine.
I did ask Audrey her opinion and she immediately went to her alphabet blocks and spelled out 'UPSIDE DOWN ON YOUR HED'.
She's been looking for her 'A' for a week now.
I think it may be under the fridge.

'dish' question for all my dish-lovin' friends.

It's always a race here to see who will hunker down in my french bread basket (which never holds bread, by the way) once placed as a center-piece on my table.
Today, it holds all 9 lbs. of our lovely Sierra. Do Not Disturb!

I have a 'dish' question for all my dish-lovin' followers.
When you decorate shelving with dishes, and you want to display tea and coffee cups, should you place them right-side up or upside-down on the shelf to avoid dust? Inquiring minds want to know. ;)

Like this...
or like this...
I couldn't find a photo of open shelving with the cups upside-down but this is close.

Or, should you just hang them like this?

Tea-time request

"So, is it tea-time yet, Deb?"

"And why would that matter, Audrey?"

"I need a snack and thought I'd join you."
=^..^=  "Catnip tea and a side order of mouse would be great, thanks. I'll take two lumps with that."

"For pity sake, Audrey. That's disgusting."

=^..^= "Really! And do I go on about that 'disgusting banana cake' you make and devour like a starved hog."

"Sorry, AA. To each his own."

Mootie is such a delicate little lady.
She is a rescue from our local animal shelter.
She came in as a 'give up' with rotten teeth.
She was in pain and frightened.
My client found her there, took her straight to her vet and had the painful teeth removed. She now lives a wonderful life with her side-kick, Pip.
Mootie comes to me to be brushed and stroked. Her soulful eyes just melt my heart. Isn't she lovely!

hugs, Deb a window

My kitty client, Pip, is a lot of fun to care for.
She's always 'on a mission' but stopped to give me a
'cat in window'
for you today.

This lasted 10 seconds then she was off again.

i love my Nana and this week's charming charges

Gwynn dropped in today and was very excited to show Nan her new t-shirt.
ok - it's not easy to have Nana, Gwynn and the t-shirt look good in a photo all at the same time so you'll have to believe me when I say it says "i love my Nana."
This little one is going to be one soon so mom dropped by to write out some invitations to her birthday bash while Gwynn and I went for a walk before it rained. Right now her favorite thing to do is to point at things (as you can see) so while we walked...she pointed. We are still living in a mess and things are here, there and everywhere, but soon it will end. (Please dear God.) Half the living-room is now in the dining-room. I don't DO renovations very well and we seem to always be renovating this old house.

After four days of rain we are getting very tired of this weather. Thankfully, I am busy with cat-sitting and all my work is indoors.
Hope you have some sun where you are. If you do, count yourself lucky.
