Shhh!

I love sneaking up on her when she looks so innocent.

I hope you all have a peaceful Sunday like our Audrey will.

Cat tip of the day=^..^=Did you know that cats respond more readily to names ending in the 'ee' sound?

Annie, Baby, Buffy, Charlie, Cali, Daisy, Emily, Ginny, Gypsy, Lily, Loly, Lucy, Lucky, Maggie, Milly, Minnie,  Misty, Perdy, Polly, Poppy, Rosie, Sadie, Taffy, Tammy, Tippy, Tweetie, and so on........

I'll have to mention that to AUDREY when she wakes up. Not that it will make any difference, I'm sure.

More on the kittens

I think it's time to slow down and get together for tea with some friends soon. The last six weeks have been so busy and little time for socializing. This has now climbed to the top of my 'to do' list. This photo makes me laugh and the house reminds me so much of my grandmother's old clap-board home. Would you use a table that size for five people? It looks to me like that these gals have run out of conversation.

I promised more kitten pictures for you so here they are. These kittens were rescued from a local barn and are now being fostered by a very kind woman not far from my home. In two to three weeks they will be ready for adoption. If you are in the area and would like to meet these little munchkins just leave me a comment.

These photos were not easy to capture as they were moving all the time.
But...you get the picture. They are so cute.

They will be ready to go soon and are looking for their loving home.

My message tonight...
PLEASE SPAY OR NEUTER YOUR CAT.
There are far too many kittens needing homes.
It is so hard to find wonderful, loving, 'forever' homes for all of them.

What's in the cookie jar?

One of my all time favorite cookies and so easy to make.
Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookies

                                    Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookies
If you're like me, you always have chocolate chips and walnuts handy and can whip these up in 15 minutes. They bake in 10 minutes. So easy Audrey could make them if I allowed her near the stove.

"How can I possibly bake with a broken foot?"

Here goes...

1/2 cup soft butter
3/4 cup of brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 tsp. of vanilla
1 cup of flour
1/4 tsp of salt
1/4 tsp of  baking soda
2 tbsp. of cornstarch
1/2 cup of chocolate chips
1/2 cup of walnuts

That's it. Mix all the above in a bowl. Drop by tea-spoon on greased cookie sheet or use parchment paper. Bake at 350 for 10 min.

I love that I have this photo of Natalie, Ronna and me having tea and getting to know each other. We were meeting for the first time although they have been friends for years.
I think it's time these ladies took another road trip to drop in again and try some of these cookies with some hot tea. I'd also have to have a lemon loaf since it was a big hit last time.

Drop over to visit these two ladies.

These are two very interesting and fun ladies. Go on over and visit. You'll be glad you did.

In honour of World Cat Day, I rushed through dinner tonight so I could take a few photos of kittens in our town that need a loving home.
They are being fostered just blocks from me by a very kind lady. These little cuties are around 5 weeks.
This is one of them. Just a tease for now. I'll have more photos later with details.

Oh.my.goodness!
I almost put this one in my pocket.

Smoothing out the wrinkles

Annie helps me make the bed each morning. Because she doesn't have any thumbs, I do the tucking and she does the smoothing-out at the end. Like most people, I don't iron my sheets. I don't iron at all to be honest.  Now that I have hired help (Annie) I'll never iron again. She has mastered this craft so well that I have decided to hire her out to anyone who could use her help. She's such a giving little creature and feels she needs a purpose in life.

So, if you need her just let us know in the comments. She will also perform smaller jobs around the house such as smoothing out your freshly-washed laundry and finding all your dust bunnies.

Colosse - the Great

I love to see cats in windows and if you add lace curtains...well, that takes it right over the top.
I found this online and wanted to share it.

I've been caring for our neighbourhood tough cat, Colosse the last week. I don't normally look after cats that go in and out of their homes but I made an exception here because he only lives two doors down and he's the size of a small dog and can hold his own. He would be miserable and probably tear the house apart if he was kept inside so the owners asked that I let him out and bring him in as I see fit. So, that's what I did and he had a great week of comin' and goin' and wrapping me around his great big paws.

Here are a few photos of the toughest most fearless cat I know.
First off, here he is in his window.
Of course he's on the second floor so he can look down on the rest of us.

He'll take on any dog that walks by so it's best to keep them on a leash
since you'd never get him on one.

He owns all the cars on his street.
Especially the red ones.

                                                         King of his Jungle...he is.

"til he hears the dinner bell.

Colosse -  short for Collosal (so great in size or force to elicit awe)

It's World Cat Day today. (Aug.8)
If you can't be with the cat you love,
Love the cat you're with.

Birthday lunch

"There's no meat? Are you nuts?

When I cook or bake I always have lots of company in the kitchen.
Today...Veggie Spaghetti Sauce with assistant, Sierra.

We are off to Almonte today for a birthday lunch with our daughter, Jess.
Delicious food and home-made soups are on the menu at Robins' Nest.
Jess & Mike are expecting in September (Ahhh...it's here before you know it)
and she is looking and feeling fabulous.

"Happy Birthday my dear daughter"

Just seeing you fills me with joy.
And, I'm looking forward to a yummy lunch.
