As June rolls in...

I welcome my favorite month with open arms.
I have been reading your blogs and enjoying them so much but have found little time to construct one myself. But today I felt it was about time to get back to it. I still have not had time to fix photos on the blog but it may be awhile for that. Life is just too busy. I have been cat-sitting, gardening, helping where I can with the construction project, seeing grands when at all possible and keeping Annie company. Just as I expected, Annie has been very lonely and sluggish since Audrey passed so the retired-guy and I took a trip to Bee Meadow Farm to visit our fabulous friends Natalie, Gordon and Ronna and look at a little brown tabby girl last Friday. As lovely as she is, I felt she may not be the right fit for Annie so we spent a bit of time with Grayson. Grayson was a little stray picked up at a feed mill near Bee Meadow Farm. Natalie said he had been abandoned and was starved when found. He was nervous but I could pick him up and I felt in no time flat he would be quite comfortable in a new home. He looked to be quite the character and that he'd keep us amused with his antics. So home he came.
 Meet Grayson now named Wilson.
 (that's my maiden name)
                                    Four year old Wilson

We already love this little guy and yes, he does resemble Audrey. It was for that reason that I did not want to even look at him but something kept drawing me back to him. His personality and body build are very different from Audreys and he has his own unique face. He will need a wee bit of fattening up but you know that is no problem here. :-b
We have that down. lol
He meows like a girl and fancies himself a mighty lion as he seeks out all the high places in his new home.
Annie took her sweet time to welcome the little guy but already we see her much calmer and she has perked up with curiosity. Although she has still not allowed him to touch her she will share her toys and sit next to him calmly.

They will be fine. :)))

The entrance to the wood-lot

The hot summer-like weather has made for being busy gardening and moving dirt from here to there. We have planted fruit trees, added perennials, annuals and more ground cover. Our veggie garden is in albeit it is much smaller this year. The mounds of dirt from the big dig will be moved in the next week and we have had twenty-one tons of sand delivered for landscaping. The resident critters are busy nesting and finding new dens. Our bird houses are filling up and we saw our first blue-bird this spring. We hoped she would nest here but she left. :(

                                        Little house wren

The house construction continues and keeps the retired-guy busy into the late hours.

I hope everyone is enjoying the start of summer-like weather.
Already I see it will be a hot one for us here in Ontario.
No complaints here, though, after the worst winter ever.

Enjoy your evening. I'm off to read your posts.

Be kind,

Here is a link to Grayson/Wilson's rescue by Bee Meadow Farm.

  6. Hello Wilson! I have been fretting about you, Deb! Glad to know you and Annie are doing well. Wilson is a handsome lad and I look forward to hearing about his settling in.

  7. Wilson will be good for you, your family, Annie, and your readers! Thank you for bringing him home.

  8. Wilson! He’s such a little darling! This is such wonderful news! Our beloved Audrey has done her job well. A cats job, well done, is to leave behind a legacy of love and joy that makes their surviving family want another cat family member to love.
Also, we couldn’t imagine Annie without feline companionship. It must have been so hard for her to loose Audrey.
We can’t wait to hear all about Annie and little Wilson! Wilson will never replace Audrey but will bring his own special and wonderful gifts to those he loves and who love him in return.

  9. I'm so happy to see you Deb! Even though I follow your Instagram I love to see a blog post from you! Wilson does appear to be settling in well and I am glad to know that. He is such a handsome young man and I'm sure he and Annie will be great friends soon. The woodlot has greened up well and looks inviting. I can't wait to see the progress on your house. Enjoy your summer and that handsome new addition to your family!

  10. So happy to see that Annie and you have a new member of the family. Welcome Wilson.

  11. What a special kitty. Oh, I am so happy for you and Annie, and for Wilson, well, and for the Retired Guy. :) Looks like Wilson is going to fit right in. I love how Annie is watching him at the toy box. So good to hear from you!

  12. Delighted that Wilson has a home with you - Natalie has worked so hard with your beautiful boy. And great to read about your garden and house progress. Sending care and hugs, Michelle in Wellington, NZ

  13. How lovely that Wilson got to come & live with you Deb ... will be wonderful for Annie given time. I think of you SO much & how you must miss dear Audrey. Take care Deb ...we are well into winter here so its lovely to see your fine-weather photos.

very lucky to find such a lovely the
    name..Wilson..HeHe! Very British...! :).

  15. Lovely to see the post from you. Like you I have not posted for a while but still read my favourites.
I'm loving Wilson already and please to see that Annie is okay with him.
Princess is still bonking around on her cast and we are hoping that it will only be another couple of weeks before it comes off.

  16. Oh Deb - good on you for opening your home up for Wilson. I am sure it will all settle down in no time and your new little buddy will be so loved.

  17. Wilson will have a wonderful life with you and your family. You have been busy. Building and gardening can be full time jobs.

Happy weekend. Good to hear from you again.

  18. I've always thought that a household with 'only' one cat would seem lacking. We can never replace a beloved pet, but thankfully there is always another one to be loved. I look forward to updates and photos as Annie and Wilson become better acquainted.

  19. So nice to hear from you again, and Wilson looks like a real winner. Rebecca2

  20. So pleased you chose Wilson. He needs you three as much as you need him. Annie is such a love that she will grow to love him too. I have missed you all and I know you are very busy. It is lovely to read your post and know that you are already feeling better. Love Andie xxx

  21. Oh how sweet! Wilson is fitting right in and making himself at home. He is in a loving home and will have it made. Glad to read that Annie is accepting him.

Have a great weekend ~ FlowerLady

  22. I have fallen in love with Wilson already from your IG photos. Such a sweet guy. Busy summer days. We've had rain for 18 straight days so I'm ready for some sunshine even if it brings hot weather! Hugs!

  23. So happy to hear you are doing well and that Annie now has a little brother. He'll be great company for her. Oh, the antics they'll share.... Bess from Massachusetts

  24. WILSON! Oh my word, you are a cutie! Annie and Wilson will be bestest friends in no time. Concatulations on your new feline child!

  25. Congratulations on the new fur baby. He doen't know that he's won the cat lottery--YET. :-)

  26. It's good to read you again. Wilson's adoption was a good choice, I think. His personality will soon have him looking quite different than Audrey - but then, not even an identical twin would make that girlcat less unique. I am pleased that Annie has acquiesced in Wilson's presence. He's a lucky boy.

  27. So good to have you "back" and looking forward to lots of fun posts about Wilson (cute name for him)!
    Nebraska ><>

  28. Congrats to you all...Wilson's one lucky little guy.

  29. Welcome Wilson.... I'm so glad you are home. Bless you and all the family.
    Love to all,

  30. So glad Wilson has joined your family.....keep us posted!!!

  31. Wonderful news Deb & how fortunate for Wilson that you took the time to meet him. I am looking forward to reading more about Wilson & Annie's adventures. He certainly is very handsome & seems to be succeeding to charming his way into the family heart.

  32. Glad to hear that Wilson has joined your home. I'm sure that he and Annie will become great companions. Cats have a way of sorting themselves out and living together.

  33. I love Bee Meadow Farm blog. Grayson HAD a tough life before being rescued. And now home with you, he will have the best life a cat can have. Gail

  34. Welcome Wilson!
    He’s in good hands...
    Linda :o)

  35. Hi Deb, I'm back from a short holiday and checking in at long last. I love your beautiful (or shall I say handsome) Wilson. He's very attractive and it looks as though he's fitting in well. I'm glad Annie has perked up a bit. I've been thinking of you often and I'm glad you and she have another bit of gray fur in your home.

It sounds like you are crazy busy like the rest of us but I'm glad you've picked up on the blog again because I miss you and visits here and there! Ah, summer. It's coming! (Although unseasonably cool since I've been home. We'll see how it shakes down!)

  36. I am so happy that you adopted Wilson. He will ease your pain and bring extra joy in your life! God bless!

  37. Hello Wilson, It's nice to meet. Sweet Annie. ♥ Always so polite and welcoming.
