The wedding was magical. 

The rain held back until just after the out-door ceremony.

I'll have fun now with the photos and will post the beautiful wedding party soon.

Meanwhile, Sierra sits patiently waiting on the porch for HER mailman.

Love is in the air

There is love in the air and tonight we head out for the wedding rehearsal and dinner.

Out-of-town relatives will arrive today and get settled in.

Our speech is being 'tweaked' 

And we are praying for 'no rain'

Heat-stroke in cats

We have been having very hot weather the last little while and it reminds me of the importance of keeping the cats from getting heat-stroke.
The best way is to keep them indoors. Mine like to lie on the deck during the day which is ok but I have to watch that they are not right in the sun and always have a water bowl with cool water close by. I will throw an ice-cube in the water throughout the day to keep it cool and get them interested.
 Lily is a white cat with very pink skin. She has to have sun-screen put on her nose and ears or she can easily get skin cancer. I also don't let her lie directly in the sun.

Plants on your deck will help to provide well-needed shade for your cat once they have had enough sun.

Signs of heat-stroke in cats

• Panting
• Anxiety, possibly demonstrated by pacing
• Increased heartbeat
• Respiratory distress or hyperventilation 
• Dark red gums
• Lethargy
• Increased internal body temperature 

Be sure to take good care of your cats throughout the hot days of summer.

a little visitor.

The day started off with me walking into the kitchen and being greeted by a chipmunk chowing down at the cat dish. WHAT!! Now, this has not been a great week but I'm not complaining too much....it could have been worse, but I was not in the mood to have to wrestle a little darling chipmunk from the claws of one of my cats. I walked slowly around it and it skadaddled under my pantry door. How it did that I'll never know because the opening at the floor was maybe a 1/2 inch. Anyhoo......it's in there and Gary can take care of it later. He'll just send it outside. This is an old house and we have had many a mouse, bat, bird but never a chipmunk drop in. Still don't know how they get in here. Sorry no photos...it all happened too fast.

It is SO HOT here today. I am heading out for a pedicure and just tidying up around the home. Not doin' much.

Bonnie dropped by to settle up after a week of my cat-care for her diabetic cat and her friends. (4 in all)

Wilson (one of Bonnie's cats) had some bo-bo's to take care of so I was medicating him, too over last weekend.  I love this guy. He is a Pooh-bear kind of cat. Just jolly, round and sweet.
Bonnie was so kind, so complimentary, so appreciative of my care. That is what fuels me to keep going and growing the business. She said she will be singing my praises to all her friends and neighbours. She doesn't care to use boarding kennels so I expect to hear from her again.

There is so much excitement going on around here. Last minute preparations. Poor John went to pick up his tux last night and it didn't fit right. They have to make some changes again and we are 3 days away from the wedding. Oh dear!
The only one not having a care in the world right now is our Flower-girl to be. She's too busy eating dry cereal from her tea-set.

Celebrating with friends

A family wedding means sharing time with friends from afar. This is Mary, a friend of 35 years.  I can't wait to see her and listen to her rag me out for falling a week before the wedding. I expect that :)

The mailman came through for Sierra today but she felt the box was a little small to make use of so ended up walking away in a huff.

 I, ladies, am about to transform into a Spring Chicken although it may take awhile...a long while.

I ordered a bottle of 'magic' from Jayme at Tales from the Coop-keeper so I will let you know how it works. It is full of plant-derived oils and has a lavender scent. That's it. All natural, no water, no alcohol.

She threw in some beak balm, too. It has honey from her bees out back in it. If you have not had the pleasure of reading her blog you are in for a delightful experience. I'm still trying to take it easy but I am truly no good at this. Too much to do. Gah!

Those backyard birds are getting loud.
Lots of resting going on and I'm really getting bored. Went for a walk tonight and felt better. All your good wishes are working.


Gary is getting really good at scooping litter boxes. I may even hire him once he retires. ;-)
